Do you believe that Alexander Mogilny deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame? Who else do you believe should be inducted that is currently eligible?

He should have been inducted in 2009, real shame its 2024 and he still hasn’t been selected.

Well, first I say that belief is confusing the impossible for the possible. It's possible he'll be inducted if someone shakes themselves loose from this redunculous bias.

Another rumor is that the Russian hockey association is still bitter of his defection and has pressured the HOF not to induct him. If that's true, BS again. Show some stones and tell Russia to shove it.

I agree wholeheartedly with your take on Mogilny. He was such an incredibly talented player who brought so much excitement to the game along with the other young Russian superstars who appeared on the NHL scene during that era. But it was not only his talent but also his character that was so admirable, as you point out. He dared to defect before Federov and Bure and I believe that he was mentally tougher than either of them. That could be a big reason why he was made captain in Buffalo while the others never earned more than an 'A' during their careers. His number '89', the year he defected and the Berlin Wall opened up, had so much meaning back then- he defied Soviet totalitarianism. I was a Red Army Wings fan back in the '90s and wished that he could have played with the Russian Five- I guess they came close to getting him but it didn't work out. Anyway, it is a great injustice that he has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame, but as you point out, that institution is corrupt like most everything these days. No matter what they decide, people who watched him play recognize that he was one of the greatest players to ever play the game! Thanks for the video. Subscribed.

whoever is voting needs to be put in a home. Mogilny should be there. Ridiculous

I just subscribed because I'm a lifelong Buffalo resident who is disgusted at the hockey HOF for this injustice. Not only is Alex deserving of induction, but also an apology. On a non hockey note, I met Alex once. I was a police officer in the early 90s. I pulled over a black speeding vet after midnight midnight. It was Alex. He spoke no English and was very nervous. I was star struck, didn't give him a ticket, but got his autograph. The nervousness he showed wasn't the normal kind. I imagine he was terrified, being from the USSR and used to that system. That shows the lengths and sacrifice he made to trailblaze the path for other Russian players.

Wow, what an amazing story! Police, especially secret police, were no joke in the Soviet Union so he probably expected a harrowing experience.

The story of his defection & journey to Buffalo is straight out of a spy novel, & he produced when he arrived. He opened the door for not only Russian players, bit also those behind the Iron Curtain. It's a black eye on the committee for not inducting him, not only for his contributions on the ice, but also off the ice. Great content, subscription earned.

exactly... he deserves the Hall without having stepped on NHL ice let alone do what he did. its always a slap when they say he at Teemu tied w 76 goals that season, but Alex did it in 8 fewer games

colin campbell got the bruins a cup as head of the disciplinary office while his son played for them. I guess you could say he built that

I’ve been saying this for years that Mogilny should already be in the HOF. His stats, awards, achievements and him defecting proves it.
@TheBluelineHockey2 ай бұрын
His dedication to the game by defecting alone should be enough.
@anthonyf.94572 ай бұрын
@@TheBluelineHockey I 100% agree with you. I hope he gets that call soon🤞🏾

Canadians being prejudice, if he was from Canada he woulda been in already

I don’t think he was better than Bure, but if it weren’t for the 2 broken legs and torn ACL he may have been.
