I mean, realistically, if you want a high end aquascape (with proper high end equipment) the only way to save money would be to go for a smaller tank. There really is no other way. Everything is MUCH cheaper: Filters, lights, substrate, hardscape, plants, ferts etc.

Hardgoods like the tank and light are most often the most expensive things to buy. Facebook marketplace can come in pretty clutch though every now and then.

Just a note for the UNS stand from any online retailer it costs $700 basically since there's a $300 freight shipping charge when you buy it on top of the $400.

Fantastic point my friend! None of the prices I talked about included shipping costs. As I'm sure many people are aware, the shipping costs for all the items listed will vary based on where you are having the product shipped to.

@@SimplyAquascaping yeah I just felt a need to point that one out because of how expensive shipping is! Haha

Indeed. Thank you for pointing it out.

Love the video mate! Personally if you want to start go check the best brand and then your local secondhand website. Usually hobbyist sell stuff and it will cost you way less😊✌🏻

I appreciate it bro! I got an entire CO2 system with spare parts from a hobbyist who was leaving the hobby for so cheap that I had to ask him twice to confirm the price!

Great video! No one really talks about this aspect. Ferts, CO2, rescaping (buying more hardscape) if you do it more than once a year. It all adds up but god is just fun and addicting

Thanks for watching! All the little things like that add up fast!

I live in Korea, where the TWINSTAR company actually started their business. Thus, their products are extremely cheap here, especially since they began selling directly to customers instead of through middlemen. It costs around 90 USD to buy the 600S and 50 USD for the 600E(although recently krw value hit ground compared with usd). You can literally buy two or three TWINSTAR products for the price of one CHIHIROS here. When they started selling their products directly to customers, the prices were even cheaper than the wholesale prices they supplied to shops. Many shops felt betrayed by TWINSTAR and stopped selling their products. Although good for customers because prices are really good.

Very interesting information! Being in the same country of origin where products like the twinstars are made is a huge benefit and definitely something many aquarists wish they had.

@SimplyAquascaping yes exactly. Although they doesn't have fancy app or Bluetooth controllers inside the light like chihiros, they are really cheap and good for price. I always recommend their light for my friends who want to start planted tank. They also selling CO2 defuser for extremely cheap price too. Like 2 bucks? Although its short compared with NEO one, They are extremely good for its price. Anyway always enjoying your vids!

I want to create a no-filter, no water change tank. I'm intrigued with the substrate method of using aquatic compost/lava rock/crushed root tabs. I've also read that ADA aquasoils/contrasoils break down over time and would require changing or supplementing with root tabs after 1 to 3 years. Wanted to ask, from your experience: which substrate will require the least amount of redosing or additional supplementation? What method do you prefer? Have you tried both?

❤❤❤❤ kool video ..... these equipments r costly but there r ways to reduce cost. Like I use epiphyte dominated aquascapes where i may not need to invest hefty amount on lights

I did, very much so! You’re very right. It costs quality to get quality. I’ve cheap’d out on a couple lights in my nano room and it shows. You can point out the nicrews a mile away
@SimplyAquascaping6 ай бұрын
Indeed. I'm not a big nicrew fan to be honest. The color scheme is just a bit too funky for my liking.

I love having my aquarium stand line up exactly with my rimless tanks, but I am unwilling to spend a fortune on a stand so I always end up building my own. Buying things second hand is probably the best way to save money and still get top of the line equipment.
@SimplyAquascaping6 ай бұрын
Indeed. Aquarium stands are often built with the same material that you can get yourself from the lumber yard so if you're handy enough to build it yourself that'll definitely save you a ton of cash!

FB Marketplace has come in clutch so many times for me! It can be very annoying sometimes but when you find that steal of a deal it's all worth it in the end!
