Save for the two rocks, you've created a "dutch style" aquarium! Maybe you just remove the rocks and go all in on that type of scape?
@SimplyAquascaping14 күн бұрын
You know I've thought about calling it a dutch style and I've told my wife that I think it could pass as one, but I know that there are some pretty strict rules to dutch style and I don't want to step on anyones toes by claiming it's one. Maybe I could pass it as a "dutch hybrid"?
@LushSaltyAquariums14 күн бұрын
Hello from my fish room channel in Chicago, where I am a subscriber to yours as well as an avowed "plant nerd" like yourself. I happen to own both of these aquariums, too! Like the previous commenter I have the exact same question: On the stems in the 45U do you not find it necessary to pull and replant every few sessions to eliminate scraggly undercarriage? I do.
@SimplyAquascaping14 күн бұрын
What's up my friend and thanks for watching the video! Love that you and I have the same tanks! With the stems in the 45U I've only ever restemmed the tank once and when I did it took way too long for the stems to regrow a root system and get back to the height I wanted, so I've always just trimmed them low and let them keep that bushy look. I'll have to give the restemming another try and see if I get the same results or if that was just a freak thing.
@LushSaltyAquariums14 күн бұрын
@@SimplyAquascaping Hmmmm... I think both methods are necessary. i read that Takashi Amano trimmed as you do between 3 and 6 times and then replanted, repeating the cycle...
@SimplyAquascaping14 күн бұрын
Yeah I think I’ll have to give it a go and see how the results end up!
@yegscaper644414 күн бұрын
How often to you trim vs pull out and replant? Always the dilemma. Especially stems but also curious with AR mini what you do?
@SimplyAquascaping14 күн бұрын
I trim the stems every other week and I've only ever restemmed the tank once. In my experience it took too long for the trimmings to grow roots and I wanted the tank to maintain a certain look with the trimmed lines. With the AR Mini I only every trim and replant the tops. I've never pulled out the plant completely because the mini version stays pretty short.
@yegscaper644413 күн бұрын
@ thanks for the reply. That’s similar to what I do :)
@FlowstateAquatics14 күн бұрын
Do you still do your weekly 50% on tanks with shrimp? I'm seeing so much conflicting info. I'd like to start dosing ferts EI scheduled because my current setup is scarfing up so many nitrates it's hard to believe, but was worried the 50% would stress the shrimp out too much to be worth it.
@SimplyAquascaping14 күн бұрын
I think you'd be fine to do 50% changes every week. I do 50% in all my tanks weekly and my shrimp don't seem to get stressed by it at all. Are you keeping any specific shrimp that require more precise parameters?
@FlowstateAquatics13 күн бұрын

Loads of plants, proper lighting and a dialed in ferts schedule. What kind of algae are you dealing with?
@arko96620 күн бұрын
@@SimplyAquascaping green spot mostly, diatomes here and there. Black beard algae on driftwoods. Though I have controlled algae in my smaller tanks, the 70gallon tank is just not at all listening to me. I have planted more than 350 plants in my 70g tank. Half of them are surviving now after 6months and other half is wilted and dead.
@SimplyAquascaping20 күн бұрын
Not sure what ferts you're using, but I could recommend some if you want. Also you could spot dose the BBA with some algae treatments. I can also recommend some of that too if you want. Otherwise just manual removal and water changes would be my best advise.

There's a stitch pattern in knitting that's called "dropped stitch" and it creates holes like the ones in the leaves. I wonder if the person who came up with the pattern saw these leaves and wanted to recreate it?

can i get an explanation, biologically and evolutionary speaking, why the leaves have lots of holes?
@luckas221a27 күн бұрын
this plant tends to grow in fast-flowing water, so the leaves are likely an adaptation to allow currents to pass through without causing much damage.
