VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
Hi everybody,
The Indian government has been extremely bullish on alternative sources of petrol and diesel for a long time now!! Especially Nitin Gadkari!!
And as Mr Nitin Gadkari constantly points out, crude oil prices keep fluctuating with geopolitical tensions, they are bleeding our foreign exchange reserves, and most importantly, they emit 12% of India's carbon emission!! And this is again causing both pollution and global warming!
But this is where Nitin Gadkari started the next big fuel revolution in India!! And his vision is so optimistic that he says, India will not just stop imports but we will go to become an exporter of Fuel to the world!! And one of the most important instruments of this massive revolution is a fuel that we all know as compressed natural gas or CNG
Now if you are a think school student, you know what this means right??!! What is the government, the government is the godfather of the market, and if the godfather is bullish on something, then it points towards a million dollar business opportunity!!
Infact, if you look at market reports, the share of CNG powered vehicles has been going up from 3.5% of passenger vehicle sales in 2019 to 11% in 2022!! and it's expected to grow to 18% in the next 5 years!!
And, you know what, Bajaj Auto and Maruti Suzuki have done such an incredible job that today, they have a market share of 79% and 75% respectively!! And this market is booming so fast, that Maruti has increased its cng sales by 4 times in the last 6 years. Tata motors wants to make the CNG sales equal to EVs!!! And recently if you saw the news, Bajaj Auto is going to release the World’s first CNG powered bike in India!!
So ladies and gentlemen, we are witnessing not 1 not 2 but 3 automobile revolutions together, which are EVs, Hydrogen and now the CNG revolution.
So, in today’s case study, let’s deep dive and understand
Why is CNG considered to be the next game changing fuel for India?
What has bajaj auto done to be the market leader in this space?
What is the Indian government doing to boost the cng industry in india? And, lastly, for people like you and me, what are the new opportunities in this growing market?

CNG have a few issues (Saying from Bangladesh where majority cars/three wheelers are run by CNG) 1. Refueling time is quite long for CNG 2. CNG pressure becomes really low during winter 3. CNG Capacity in a vehicle is low and hence it requires more frequent refueling. And then there's the CNG blast risks.

is it challenging to use cng in winter due to low pressure? any cons or drawback can you please explain
@ziaulhaque8707
@ziaulhaque8707 Ай бұрын
@@swagatamkalita8209 when it comes using there's no problem tbh. But refueling becomes painfully slow during winter as there's less gas pressure in the CNG Pumps. In the morning you won't be able to refuel. It creates massive timing issue. So, having 2 options will always be better.

Also the energy destiny of CNG is less than petrol diesel or lithium ion battery. And it occupies more volume. You can store only 4-5 kg of CNG in a normal bike whereas it is possible to store 20 litres of petrol or diesel and electric battries are able to give 200+ km of range on a 4 hr charge now.

Biggest drawback of CNG vehicles from the user perspective is a lackluster performance. Put 5 people in a car and run it on the highway and ghat sections, you'll feel the engine struggling to perform like a petrol and diesel car. So CNG intrigues only to those people, who are buying entry level cars like Alto, Celerio and WagonR and are super budget conscious. But if we look at the market trends, car buying habits in India are changing. Earlier cars like Alto and Celereo used to dominate the charts, but today we see even ₹15 - ₹20L cars like Creta and Scorpio N in the top 5. And those customers won't like a lackluster performance at that price.

E.g. in this video, one can say - 1. For upper class/family business people there is a potential opportunity in owning and operating these CNG stations 2. For middle-class/millennial professionals, there is an opportunity in exploring investments into listed CNG players and their ancillary companies/vendors 3. For genz's, particularly who are starting a career in engineering, CNG value chain players can be a good source of internships/jobs to ride this wave

Safety issues and lack of boot space are problems due to the typical mindset of Indian people. They will buy a 3rd party mechanic fitted CNG systems in order to save costs. The second class which is somewhat lierate will buy a petrol car and go for company fitted CNG tank. This is safer bit still risky. One needs to buy the cars that are fitted with CNG tanks during assembly itself. This is the costliest option but it is as safe as petrol and also solved the issue of boot space.

CNG, gasoline, diesel, ethanol etc are in govt or some private entity's control, but electric vehicles are not. We can produce our own electricity by solar, so that never to worry about price increase in the future. Hydrogen may be another option, that we can produce from water. No pollution too.

That's the ignorance at its peak. To run solar you'll need panels, batteries, conductors, electrical components. Do you think government won't hike the tax for those ? 20 to 30 years ago, we all would have thought that water is nature's gift and no need to pay. Is it the case today ? Aren't government charging you water bills?

India's Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is sourced from both domestic production and imports. Approximately 35-40% of the natural gas used for CNG production comes from domestic sources, while the remaining is imported in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from different countries 1. India imports approximately 37% of its natural gas consumption 2. The distribution of LNG imported into India in 2021, by country of origin, is as follows: Qatar: 40% United States: 24% Russia: 18% Australia: 9% Nigeria: 5% Others: 4% This data may be useful

CNG cars don't have large boot space due to the cylinder placement. This is a huge deal breaker for many buyers, especially the vehicles in the transport business that'll be used for long travel as there'll be more luggage to carry. Due to the high pressure, CNG must be stored in cylinders as this shape can withstand high pressure. Hopefully the car designers can come up with something to place the cylinder without compromising the boot space.

Naa we need to find another alternative. Dont know about the renewability factor about CNG but I am pretty sure it would be lackluster for long term investment. Rather fund more for renewable resources. It would take quite while for even petrol to run out.. EVs are obviously a better option, even in the future with maybe with new cells we could even gain far more efficiency and even cleaner sources.

We are so diversified with energy sources, we need to focus on high efficient, least emission source. As of now it's BEV, not hybrid, cng, amonia, gasoline, hydrogen etc that uses engines that inherently have 25-30% efficiency compared to 80-95% Bev efficiency.

No brother CNG is no way near to be future fuel instead Electric vehicles are on a rise also Bajaj the company you mentioned has started to make electric auto rikshaw, the only thing stopping the sudden growth of EVs is due to the problem of lack of charging stations in India, but this problem is also solving day by day as TATA is building EV stations very robustly, mark my words in the next few years statistically saying for every 7/10 car will be an EV, correct me if i am wrong, By the way love your videos brother they are very informative unlike other channels you talk about facts and numbers then after ending your video you asked your viewers to decide what is right or wrong, big fan of your videos keep up the good work, waiting desperately for your new video.

Bai don't expect the fuel prices to be cheaper in india. It is impossible to do it. India is heavily dependent on petrol and diesel at past n present. Petrol n diesel r nothing but cruide oil. We r important more than 70%of cruide oil from foreign countries. We r more dependent on foreign countries fr cruide oil. If cruide oil prices r increased by foreign countries then it automatically reflects in Indian market also. This results in inflation. So govt is pushing CNG n EV vehicles so that our dependency on cruide oil decreases. If our dependency on cruide oil decreases then inflation can be controlled. Not only inflation control. Hum jitna dusre country se dependent rahega utna hii humko dikkat hoga.
