The paradox is Amazon don't need to make Bond films. They're one of the most successful corporations in the world with profit margins that make Disney look small fry! They are in no rush to get a return on their Bond acquisition. And Broccoli knows that. She will drag out the script development and new Bond casting for two years at least I reckon. Bond 26 2026 perhaps? It's possible MG Wilson will retire before Bond 26 is made. He is 81.

My theory is; at this point they are just waiting for Nolan or Denis to become available. Both are directors that see their films all the way through and don’t commit to other films until after their current film is complete. both are releasing a film later this year. Also, both directors will want to be a part of the creative process; writing and casting. Which is why no casting or writing news has released. This is my hope anyway

Agreed. Nolan's certainly free after Openheimer is out this year and he's said if he was ever going to do Bond it would be for a reboot. I agree if he was to do it there is little point in working on something before he's free. Denis Villeneuve is planning on a 3rd Dune film at some point [an adaption of Dune Messiah] so he has that on the horizon but the same thing applies.

It was a Producer driven franchise and hiring a director to helm a large scale production was on cog in Broccoli's machine.

Tenet was Nolan's 'Bond film'. Nolan is NOT doing a licensed 007 film. My guess is the producers are taking their time cos they HAVEN'T A CLUE what to do with Bond going forward. They're probably feeling pressured to get with the times and do a 'progressive Bond', at the same time as some wanting Bond to be traditional. And the well of creativity is probably a little dry, as well.

Spot on Calvin! I think we're sharing a brain when it comes to the future of the franchise anytime soon. I made similar comments in a recent podcast. Barbara and Michael (like Daniel) seem to have fallen very much out of love with the 007 franchise, despite being the one that actually pays the bills. I think Christopher Nolan will direct the next film. He is a very high profile director who's always admitted to be interested in the franchise but only if he could reboot it. My prediction is that they are waiting for him to finish Openheimer to really get the next Bond project going.

A realistic time before we get a new Bond film is about three years and since we have a new Bond game coming soon as well as GoldenEye now being available to play on the Switch, us Bond fans do have some stuff to keep us entertained until more news breaks out. At first, I was delighted to get more Star Wars, but they mismanaged it and ran it into the ground. Now, it's not nearly as special. To be honest, even if Covid hadn't hit and NTTD had come out in 2020 like it was supposed to, I was always expecting a long gap before Bond 26. Both Craig and Brosnan benefited from a bit of a break before there stints' started and the next Bond will have to set the tone for several films, not just a single one in line with the new actors take on the role. As you say, the picture is distorted by tabloid nonsense suggesting things that are not actually happening [like auditions]. Maybe things will change but at the moment given we're getting films [such as the recent DC slate] being announced for 2025, I suspect 2026 will probably be the time [and it will be 20 years since the last reboot].

To be fair, much of the delay before Brosnan was legal battles. Once they actually set out to make the movie, the process went fairly fast. It's not as if they spent 6 years working on Goldeneye. I certainly do long for the days of Albert R. Broccoli when he could go from Roger Moore to Timothy Dalton in 2 years. Heck, even if they'd spent another year tweaking things and improving things, it would still be lightyears beyond what film studios are capable of today.

Given audiences had just had 12 years and 7 films that were generally light in tone from Moore, going so suddenly to a new serious and darker approach probably wasn't what audiences were expecting at the time [hence Licence to Kill being the lowest grossing Bond film adjusted for inflation] so by accident or design, I think having some breathing space did help Brosnan and Craig get a fair chance from audiences who were ready for a new actor/take on the series.

Bab's unquenchable thirst for Craig has immobilized her from moving forward with the franchise. This franchise has had a hard or soft reboot multiple times, yet they talk as if this is the first time. I honestly think Babs has lost interest in a Bond post-Craig I love Craig too, but there is a sacred treatment for his Bond legacy that has never been afforded to any other actor since Sean and maybe not even then.

Yes, it's understandable that BB feels a particular attachment to Craig not only as a person it seems, but professionnally speaking as well, since she pretty much did put her career on the line by championing him, "the blonde Bond", at a time when the dismissal of the very popular Brosnan raised more than a few eyebrows. Gotta give her credit where credit is due, that was a risky move and it paid off in spades (pun intended). But the idea that "finding a worthy successor to Daniel Craig is such a tough task" is ludicrous; Connery is the undoubtedly the most popular James Bond actor there ever was and even him was recast twice in the space of four years. I'd actually argue that they are adding even more pressure on the shoulders of whoever is going to be Craig's successor by acting this way...

There are tons of factors in carrying a franchise from generation to generation, not to mention the legalities, economics, and worldwide pandemics that make the job 1000% more difficult. I’m sorry but everyone here makes it sound like picking a new Bond and making a new movie takes 35 minutes and a phone call. For a WHOLE new generation Daniel Craig is their Sean Connery, and you can see plainly how difficult it was to move on from him 50 years ago let alone nowadays when everyone and their mother is screaming on the Internet.

There is just no doubt about it at this point- Barbara and Michael are obviously no longer interested in The James Bond Franchise. You can just tell very easily by looking at how she speaks about it. And I guess that’s actually understandable. She has had Bond front and center for her entire life and it is clear that she has much more high minded” important” projects on her mind now. But then - she should absolutely sell the rights to someone that IS still excited about the Franchise. I’m sure there are many many producers and companies who would LOVE to work on James Bond. This way Michael can happily retire. And Barbara can just produce her serious projects without being bothered about James Bond questions. And best of all… we the fans would get more content! After all - 5 films in 21 years is just silly. Heck Cubby did that in 6!! And they were pretty darn good films too!

I’m posting another comment here because this is a completely different idea. I’d like to do a call back to a wonderful concept you had in a prior video of yours: Pierce Brosnan has aged very well and I think it would be great if the next Bond film had him as an older Bond that was pulled out of retirement for one last mission. His 007 is obviously older but can get the job done. Look at Sean Connery in The Rock! This would give Brosnan his sendoff (not necessarily be killed) and people are very used to his 007. It would be a great one-shot film for the next in the series and a fantastic way to reset everything. It would be so much easier for introducing a new Bond in the film after that! I know the chances of it happening are practically nonexistent, but it’s certainly on my wish list. It was a great idea you had. How incredibly creative and daring.

November Man was pretty much that anyway back in 2014. It does feel like a 'spiritual' conclusion to the Brosnan series given some of the plot points [like a woman from his past called Natalia...]. A really good Bond movie could be made for $50 million that goes back to Bonds roots. It's kind of refreshing in the era of peak content and endless spinoffs that Bond films are rare events but the downside to that is if you don't like the latest entry it feels agonising waiting for the next one. For some people the last good Bond film was Skyfall and that's 10 years old. The back catalogue is always going to be there but if the Bond franchise is going to survive it EON probably does need to pick up the pace. That being said I don't begrudge Broccoli from wanting to do other creative projects she and Wilson have been working on Bond longer than I've been alive.

True. Star Wars used to be a massive cultural event which dominated the headlines of mainstream press let alone movie news. Now we've gone from 3 year gaps between the trilogy films to 5 films in 5 years [only 1 less than the entire 1977-2015 period] and the streaming shows get no where near the same hype.

That's a fair point - it's possible that they felt too confident after Skyfall's exceptional box office performance, hence the bigger budget, and that, along with the years-long development hells that came with both Spectre and NTTD and then both films not performing as well as Skyfall did would feel pretty painful. I wouldn't be surprised if Broccoli and Wilson are privately suffering from a creative burnout in part because of how much of a headache it was - and burnout is one of the worst enemies of any creator, speaking as an amateur writer.

Please dear god i hope they don't sell to Amazon. It would just turn into the marvel universe and become diluted. Honestly I'm happy with them holding off on putting off a new bond for a few years. We really got a full story with Craig, and many things have been done with the franchise as a whole. I think it's good to figure out what the future of the franchise is going to be rather than rushing casting or writing and getting something sub-par. Between bonds there were: 2 years between Connery and Lazenby 4 years between Lazenby and Moore 2 years between Moore and Dalton 6 years between Dalton and Brosnan 4 years between Brosnan and Craig We're definitely looking at a more extended period between bonds right now, but for such a long running Bond with such a linear story and definitive ending, I personally think that's fine

One major problem is just that filmmaking has changed completely since Bond’s inception, heck, since even Craig’s first feature and Bond isn’t Marvel. It’s not multiple series of films on an assembly line. Each film needs to be given the right kind of care and gravitas that it deserves, especially when one remembers that this is still a homegrown British product rather than an American franchise. I do think however that it seems as though Barbara and Michael have kind of lost sight of Bond. Broccoli’s moving Eon into different ventures and as good as that it is, it does kind of tell me that her goals are obviously not constrained to Bond and I think a lot of people will disappointed about that. I just think what’s going to happen in the coming years is that we’re going to need some young blood in the franchise. Not entirely, but if Michael G. Wilson is retiring soon and Barbara Broccoli is moving to other pastures, then we need someone else to take over the general direction of the franchise as producer. Someone like a Kevin Feige who could at least keep the ball rolling as Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson move into more of an executive capacity. I also just want to say, I really don’t want a Christopher Nolan Bond movie. Not that I don’t think it could be good, it’s just that I feel it loses sight of the fact that it’s a BOND movie. It’s not a film by Christopher Nolan. It’s a James Bond film. And every Nolan film is obviously very personal, very him. The series has always fared best with less well known directors like Martin Campbell or Lewis Gilbert. Even Sam Mendes isn’t a massively well known name in non-film circles.

Babs doesn't care anymore. And if she doesn't care, what are the chances that the next Bond flick will be any better than the rubbish of the last Bond flick? If I was in charge of Bond, first thing I'd do is green light a trilogy of anthology Bond films starring 3 different actors as Bond, and set in 3 different time periods: Make them proper spy films and set them in the 60s, 80s and present, with Pierce Brosnan as old man Bond. Give him the great last Bond film that he deserves. Then I'd green light a 00 TV series focusing on all the other 00s. That way you can make them all as diverse and inclusive as wokefully possible without having to mess with Bond's gender, ethnicity, sexuality and hyper-masculinity. That's how I'd fix Bond.

Almost exactly the thoughts I've had! For years now I've thought they should do a few special "spinoff" Bond films, properly done and period pieces. I was thinking 50s and early 60s myself. The other 00s Amazon style spinoff is a great idea to let the kids mess around with all the woke fad stuff all they like. But mainly, I would simply make a new normal proper James Bond film, and I'd likely cast Aidan Turner. Give him the right haircut somewhere between TND Brosnan and Dr No Connery style, fix his wonky front teeth with a removable brace for 10 months and make him temper his accent to something similar to his Poldark voice. Good writers (not those amateurish hacks Purvis and Wade) and directors would make him into one of the all time great Bonds. I'd also pay Martin Campbell a huge sum to return again to kick the movies back into shape and make the movies fun, exciting and cool again. Not miserable, repetitively "woke", chores to watch all trying to follow on like a tv show and making Blofeld Bond's brother and M his dad and Moneypenny his half sister in some pathetically hackish attempt to force drama and pretend you're doing something clever and different. They're Bond movies, they are what they are and just need to slightly modify with the times and styles, nothing more. it is not rocket science and they don't need to constantly think they have to reinvent the wheel every time. Give Bond fans what they want, and you can make new other things, including maybe some tastefully done spinoff "content" for amazon to play up to other people's preferences. People are different and want different things from entertainment like movies, but they now have this idea that absolutely everything needs to be sanitized, deconstructed and reformed into a one-size-fits-all black, gay and trans genre. I would LOVE to see more good, unique and original stories that give black actors and LGBT actors a proper platform to perform and develop cool new characters and things. But just commandeering everyone else's stuff is not the way forward. In fact, it could easily be seen as a massive injustice to black and LGBT equality to give people the idea that it's all these straight white characters that are the great ones, and must be taken over...as if other races and so on aren't good enough develop and be their own cool characters and tell their own stories. I find it all really bizarre, but don't get me wrong, when people swing the other extreme and start banging on about the woke brigade taking over I have no time for that nonsense either. It seems to be 95% manufactured outrages in the media in order to get people clicking links and watching shows, thereby profiting from ad revenue. The world has been truly taken over by faceless, soulless big business thanks to modern tech, sadly.

I think you may have been right with the "Oscar Bait" aspect of EONs other projects and I think that mindset infiltrated the Bond franchise too. The Craig era certainly felt heavier on drama and emotion than in the past and NTTD seemed to be that same "Oscar Bait", as least to me. I feel like Barbara especially may be of the mindset of "Well, we're not winning any gold trophies with this secret agent so we'll just focus on other things". Like you, I'll be stunned if we get ANY significant Bond news in 2023.

Skyfall had 5 Oscar nominations-Cinematography, Song, score, editing and sound mixing-wining 2-song and sound editing. Spectre got nominated for the song and won and NTTD got 3 nominations [sound, song, visual effects] wining again for song so they are getting Oscars which is a big change from most of the past [as shown by Calvin's excellent Oscar video] and other awards like the Baftas'. Oscars do seem to be nominating more mainstream films [like Top Gun this year] though that is partly to address there slipping relevance.

I think Skyfall was really where we saw that big shift happen. Like going back to Casino and Quantum they have their drama elements, but they still feel more in line with the action films of the era. When they got a director like Sam Mendes for Skyfall, naturally he seemed to push into the drama direction (and I wonder if part of that was a result of them trying to keep the budget down after QoS.) And then when everything lined up for Skyfall it really got into Oscar conversation, and the films got seen more as 'prestige franchise' after then. Eon was chasing that Skyfall energy afterwards, and it'll be interesting to see if they keep going in that direction with the next film or if Broccoli will focus more on doing Oscar-bait films between Bond films.

That's one of the many bad things about the oscars. They've never fully appreciated the Bond films. They went over thirty years without even nominating a Bond movie for an award. There was a four year gap between Die Another Day and Casino Royale so if Bond 26 comes out in 2025 a four year gap between No Time To Die and Bond 26 seems reasonable. Also they may be waiting on a director to become available. Christopher Nolan has expressed interest in the past but has stated he would wait until EON was ready to reinvent the character. EON is now in need of a reinvention. There is no script for Bond 26. Nolan writes or co-writes his film's screenplays. Aaron Taylor Johnson has supposedly met with EON. Johnson was in Nolan's Tenet. If EON wants to hire Nolan now is the time.

They haven't had a solid story idea for quite a long time (Spectre was Spectre, and NTTD's plot was built around its ending), and I have argued elsewhere that they should also be recruiting a fresh team of writers, as well as a new cast. As a huge Bond fan, I have to say Bond is finished. The last film was poor, not least because they killed Bond. For me there really is no coming back. They've killed him, so game over. The Craig Era took so many new turns and made the films so different, they just went too far and have boxed themsekces in a corner. What is the point of making new films when we know he dies. The first rule of Bond films is Bond wins and he wins by ....not dying. The producers got carried away and let Craig get far too involved in the production. Bond is not about character, or depth, or drama. They've killed him off, it would be too painful to try and bring him back.

I think what a lot of oriole miss out on here is that the world of cinema just doesn’t work the way it did 40 years ago anymore. I‘m as annoyed as you guys are but from a producer’s viewpoint you can’t just mindlessly release movies every 2-3 years, not matter if they’re good or bad. Nowadays you have to put a lot more effort into these movies and that count’s especially for Bond who has become some sort of prestige film series. I think they want to keep that specialness about these movies in comparison to other blockbuster movies and that’s why they’re taking so long. Also let’s just hope they’re waiting for Nolan or Villeneuve to finish releasing their latest movies.

I adhered to the old saying, "How can we miss you if you won't go away?" Let Bond have a rest for a while. I'm OK waiting 5 or 6 (or more years) for the next one. I've seen every Bond film in the theaters since "The Spy Who Loved Me", back when the Roger Moore 007 films were coming out bi-annually, but I don't mind waiting years for the next one. ( There was six years between License to Kill and Goldeneye.) I'd rather wait years than have an MCU deal, where some big corporation is flooding us with endless mediocre content on a conveyor belt.

While it is irritating having to wait so long for the next Bond movie, I think they should take their time. Having Bond movies come out every few years makes each one feel like an event and maybe a bit more distinct from one another. For me each Daniel Craig movie felt unique whereas the Roger Moore movies, which use to be released yearly or biyearly, sorta blend together for me sometimes (I still enjoy them tho).

What I'd like the reasoning to be especially would be them observing the reasons the new Top Gun was so successful. I know Broccoli and Wilson were aiming for an even more emotional Bond, so maybe they're rethinking that stance. The reality though may well be what youve explained in this vid. I'll be completely honest atm I'm in a Tom Cruise phase as it is. I've recently watched all the Mission Impossibles ready for Dead Reckoning Part 1 this summer. Absolutely hyped for that!

The question the producers are asking and having trouble with is, where do we go from here? Not to belittle any of his predecessors, but the impact Daniel Craig had on the Bond Films was phenomenal: his five films were awesome, drawing global attention and forcing us to take Bond seriously. Craig's 007 was the brutal yet charismatic government assassin Fleming created. He has left his successor with very, very big shoes to fill as we all now expect the same high standard, yet whoever they cast now will be starting from square one. It's an almost impossible task.

I agree with your point of wanting the franchise in the hands of someone with love and enthusiasm for the character, but find your example of Ian Fleming an odd choice. Fleming famously went through periods where he viewed the character as a burden and even tried killing him off. So I wouldn't use Fleming as an example if you're wanting someone with only positive feelings about working on the character.

Maybe because it has more to do with the unfortunate history here than over in England. I didn’t realize, however, that it was Barbara Broccoli who produced it. I could see where it was definitely a movie that could be considered a prestige picture - a movie that could possibly have some Oscar nominations. So now I’m thinking that you are correct that Barbara has other things on her mind at the moment, such as creating her own legacy. Michael G Wilson may not be retired, but clearly the energy behind the series at this time is Barbara Broccoli. And that is not a slam against Michael. At this point, Barbara and Michael need to go. Franchises can no longer be controlled by two people like a family business. My idea for a new 007 franchise of movies is as follows: 007 has gotten the ability from q to travel forth and back in time with a timetravel machine.There he starts to stop the begining of Spectre.But Spectre has duplicated q's timetravel machine, so they goes further back in time,and changes lots of historical happenings,so that the present is quite different when 007 comes back to present time.007 must therefore stop Spectre before they manages to duplicate q's timemachine. A good lead for these franchise might be Sam Claflin and Claes Bang as chef for Spectre ?

I have to admit that I was extremely surprised when they did the multi-movie arc "reset" when Casino Royale came out. But they did pull it off in spectacular fashion, especially with the choice of casting Daniel Craig and getting back to serious spy story telling. In trying to remember that lesson learned from the pros I am keeping an open mind, but it's going be real tough determining what (realistically) else to do with that specific character now. Maybe something along the lines of what happened after Isaac Asimov's original Foundation Trilogy? In that case, (roughly) there were a couple of novels written (by Asimov and others after he died) that told of the Galactic Empire before the formation of the Foundation, several that told of the fall and the end of both the Empire and the Foundation later, and several books that filled in the gaps amongst all of that. 10 total novels or so in all, if I remember correctly.

I hope that they're using this time to plan out what Bond 7's tenure will be so that once it gets started they hit the ground running and are able to produce films without lengthy gaps in-between. I don't expect that to be the case, but one can hope. I know the Craig era was beset with problems because of MGM's various problems and Craig's various injuries, but now MGM is a part of Amazon hopefully we won't have instances of bankruptcy stalling production like with the QoS-Skyfall gap or having to look for another distribution partner like in the Spectre-NTTD gap (hopefully Universal won't be hacked by North Korea and scare EON off like what happened with Sony). Certainly Bond was the jewel in the MGM crown when Amazon bought it so I'm sure they'll be telling EON to pick up the pace sooner or later. And while I think it's admirable when actors do their own stunts, I think Craig throwing himself into the physical side of the role and seemingly burning himself out when he kept breaking his knee shows why it's good to have stunt performers, and really as long as you shoot and edit the film properly it shouldn't be a problem. Either that or cast an actor with stronger knees.

I quite agree, I'd love them to have a 10 to 15 year plan in mind for when they get going and an actor hungry to become established in the role quite quickly. It would certainly help shorten the gaps between the films if they have a proper idea in place of where it's all going to go. Not saying I want it set in concrete or anything and I'd like to think they could slightly alter direction here and there but having SOME broad idea of where things would end up would be good.

I recall Danny Trejo, an accomplished stuntman himself, once said that he didn’t like lead actors doing their own stunts and made use of stuntmen in the Machete movies even though he could’ve done that stuff himself. His reasoning was if a stuntman is injured, they can get another one and keep the production going. If the lead actor gets injured, that holds up the entire production and puts lots of other crew members’ jobs in jeopardy.

There could be scope to change things based on the films reactions [such as if a minor character proved popular-like the style of Paloma in NTTD- they could be brought back] but would allow a jump on the writing. Sam Mendes said last year that the writing takes a while and in hindsight he thinks Spectre could have done with more development time.

It's cool when lead actors do their own stunts, and Tom Cruise clearly enjoys doing that stuff. But at the same time, it does cause problems for a whole bunch of people beyond just him if he does get injured.

I think one way or another that it is time for new blood in the production. I think Barbara and Michael are either tired or out of new ideas. It almost seems like they are sitting at their desks, scratching their head, and trying to figure out where to go again.

They have always said that they have to figure out the tone, direction, storyline, etc. before they start looking for a Bond, and I totally see that point, but I personally think the other way round would be much more interesting and probably would lead to better end results: Focus first on finding a new Bond that really sets you on fire. Someone that walks in the room and has the producers thinking "THAT's our Bond." Someone who brings something exciting to the table that perhaps that producers hadn't previously considered. Then, and only then, starting thinking about the kind of world that actor would live in as Bond. What kind of Bond would they be? What kind of stories would they be at place in? Then, start looking for directors and writers who will excel with that brief and let them craft the new Bond style around the actor. That's just my take, I think it would be more interesting than Barbara and Michael brainstorming with some hot shot director and then running casting calls for their idea of the next Bond, settling for someone who fits the brief without the fresh, exciting magic.

Going by a past example-for Casino Royale, they decided to go more serious, then hired Martin Campbell to direct and he was part of the casting process for Craig who they could then tailor the script to suit.

Man, people here in the comments are so negative about the future of James Bond. I myself had a great time with NoTTD! So much so that I consider it the best final Bond film of any of the actors so far. It stands heads and shoulders above garbage like Diamonds are Forever and A View to a Kill. I'm confident in Barbara's leadership so bring on the next one! I'd love it if they chose Henry Cavill but he's already 39 so they're probably not gonna choose him sadly. He'd be amazing as a villain though, he could be a great physical threat to whoever they choose as the next Bond.

Just watched NTTD a few nights ago on Prime and I seem to enjoy it a bit more each time. People will have varying opinions on the future of 007 but I personally have similar optimism as you. Ms. Broccoli and Mr. Wilson know exactly what they are doing and despite all the negative feedback, they are working diligently to ensure Bond 26 will blow the doors off the hinges when released as Casino Royale did in 2006. From financing a $250 million plus project to finding the right director whose vision will coincide with EON Productions and everything in between, I think many over simplify the tremendous task of creating a box office hit. I don't think Cavill is too old to take over the role of James Bond considering Roger Moore was 57 in his last appearance as the British agent, just my opinion.

I don't think Barbara was ever all that interested in 007 outside of making money, this is kind of shown in how hit and miss the Bond movies been under her era. While we had some great ones under her, we had a few duds. She inherited from her dad, it was more his passion I think. Another thing holding up a new Bond movie is according to reports No Time to Die lost Ion about 100 million dollars, due to the cost of production and advertising it reportedly needed to make 900 million to break even at the box office and it finished with under 800. I don't think we will see a new Bond movie for several years yet, they likely won't even start it for another year or two. I also don't think we will see consistent quality from the Bond franchise until it has another producer at the helm, one who is also a fan of the franchise.

The $100 million loss reports [23 November 2021] were from an 'source close to the production' which is always dubious even if Variety ran the story. MGM hit back the following day [24 November 2021] saying the sources were 'unnamed and uniformed' saying the story was not true.

Given she's worked on Bond since Octopussy I can't agree with the 'not interested' part. Michael G. Wilson started his career as a lawyer and got involved in Bond sorting out the Broccoli-Saltzman split but quickly got involved in the movie side and stayed there ever since. Cubby also did his share of duds [Man with the Golden Gun for example which even he said he'd like to re-do in parts if he had a chance].

I think it is a combination of factors; Michael G Wilson wanting to retire, Barbara wanting to make other films and win an Oscar along the way and a third factor, Amazon. Up until now Amazon Studios have had a very hands off approach to their movies but Rings of Power shows that when Jeff Bezos takes a personal interest in an IP things go south pretty quickly. So the next official announcement from EON could be them selling their stake in Bond.

I hope they take a lot more than 5 years to figure stuff out!! Reinvent the character. Introduce new styles for bond. Just look at 2 of the greatest bond films of all time. Casino Royale. 4 years after the previous film. Goldeneye. 6 years after the previous film. Another example is golden gun came out LITERALLY right after LALD. They started releasing too many bond films to fast. And it just becomes nonsense filler that isn't even good cinema... After that they waited from 1974 to 1977, taking like a 2-3 year break and actually taking time to give us something good. And behoLd TSWLM is arguably top 3 or 4 bond films, and of its time, the greatest bond film since 1964 Goldfinger!

I had commented on your video about two years ago stating I thought Barbara and Michael had thrown in the towel after No Time to Die, but everyone on the comment board downplayed my comments. I still think they have no intention after three years of redoing Bond again. Michael is 81 and Barbara is close to 70. My opinion and again, nothing has changed since my initial comment - I believe Bond has retired and he’s not coming back ever again. I may be wrong, but I wasn’t wrong when I predicted they were going to kill Bond off six months before No Time to Die came out. It’s just a gut feeling. Thanks for the memories Mr. Bond.

@David Wolfish, I'd have to respectfully disagree. I appreciate that you believe it was solid, but I can only say that the first half of the movie was solid. After the scene with Ana de Armas, the film seems rushed and falls apart. Felix is rushed to his death, Safin's plan doesn't make too much sense, his interest in Madeline doesn't make much sense, Bloefelds death seems rushed, Bond's death is clumsy, and that entire thing with Safin taking Mathilde, only for him to let her go in mere moments felt out of place. There was so much there, but after the first half, it feels like Fukunaga said "Alright people, let's wrap it up." Regatdless of if I liked the ideas or not (I personally didn't find the daughter plot that great), the execution is weak imho And for a nearly 3 hour film written by Bond veterans, it's a bit inexcusable.

A lot has changed. But my best guess is that they hard reboot Bond. Especially after a film where he died. The hard reboot will likely be both a recast of Bond and the whole MI6 cast along with a new origin story similar to OHMSS or Casino Royale

As a twenty year old rewatching the movies I couldn’t have enjoyed the films more than ever! They came out year after year after year for the first four and even when there was two year breaks the films we’re mostly undeniably fun and great. I know it’s not the 1960’s anymore and there are so many new standards with movies nowadays people looking back at movies like Thunderball, Goldfinger, Goldeneye, Spy who loved me, and others thinking they’re boring with no substance. I didn’t fully enjoy NTTD and severely disliked Spectre so I can wait alittle longer for something in a more classic form. Hopefully the game from IO interactive may serve that need
