One thing to note, when charging you should have the entire cable un coiled. Any loops in the wire increase the cable inductance which puts more stress on switching mosfets in the charge circuit. (I am an electronics tech..) It may not be the cause of your problem, but it's easily avoided and will even make charging slightly more efficient.. Cheers.

Interesting but don’t want to have a trip hazard with the cable uncoiled on the ground.

No but like the thinner cable of the Ford evse.
