Personally I think the game is fine at the least, it does suck that the livery and track editor aren’t changed considering I found the track editor really unfriendly to new players, I am glad that they seem to have ditched the stupid “complete a set of challenges to get a car you paid money for, but only durning this set time or else you won’t get it” that was beyond stupid, the new schmovement mechanics I find to be slightly useful when a CPU is knocking me around, I don’t really care for the new gamemodes introduced except for elimination, and aside from the graphics, I think the game could’ve just been a major update for the original

He is saying it’s mid or average in the since that it doesn’t justify it being a sequel. They added new mechanics, but it’s very much feels more like a expansion than a full fledge sequel. That matters when they’re charging $60 for it and only after a year since we had the first unleashed game and all the dlc for it. It’s limiting for a sequel. The first can cut some slack it’s the first one they made and one of the first major hot wheels games we’ve gotten in a while, which everyone has been wanting since the hot wheels expansion in forza. But when you’re charging 60 for a sequel some people are going to have higher expectations.

The first is the biggest let down in years for me.

For me: - Cars have this weird cartoon shine to them now, they looked more realistic before and more plastic now - The changes to the camera are annoying, especially when boosting and drifting, it looks like the image stretches out too much - Car upgrades aren't really upgrades because you have to swap good features for others (1 occasionally gave you less boost when upgrading so 1 isn't perfect for this either but it wasn't as bad) - Upgrade system completely undermines the "rocket", "drifter" etc categories - The map is somehow more confusing and forces a more linearpath. I kept finding myself stuck having to do less fun challenges because there were no quick races, even if there were quick races to my left or right but the path forces me to go straight. - Boss battles are just boring now, hitting the cardboard things aren't as fun as racing others - I'm not a fan of the changes to boost pads etc, being flat just looked cleaner for me - The least fun parts of tracks were when you had to slow down off the track and follow cones, constantly losing speed, easily way more of it here - Boost meter in the middle gets in the way and sometimes covers the car. Every other racing game has it to the side for good reason I think -DLC doesn't appear on the map so just feels like more tracks / cars more than a full DLC I would give all the updates up for the ability to change camera angles, see stats like best times(not just for most recent race but overall), stats for others and the ability to race ghost versions of ourselves. I hope they learn from other racing games Over all it just didnt feel as good driving but this one's hard to describe why Its not a bad game at all, id still say its one of the most fun arcade racers ever made and the ability to sidestep and jump are genuinely great additions, some of the tracks are tonnes of fun and im SO HAPPY the random boxes and mandatory shortcuts are gone. For me I just preferred 1

probably Milestone is stuck to what agreements with Mattel/HotWheels about their limits of creativity liberties to put something new and fantastic like track patterns, wheel swap etc. like that's why they're maintaining the currents style of the game is to coinside with what HotWheels style these day mainly to advertise the actual toys

Oof, this is rough. I saw the game and thought it was ok at best, but when you compare it to the 1st one you start seeing it's weaknesses and lacking content. Could they be making a huge update in the future? Anything that could make HWU2 differentiate itself from U1?

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is the best HW game in the 2020s for me, but you just called it mid. Listen, some of our favorite games can be flawed, and that's okay. If you wanna say that this game is mid, that's fine. In fact, I think you might wanna recreate Acceleracers tracks in the track builder (in which should be pretty awesome). In the previous Hot Wheels Unleashed 2021 game, I made a track in the Track Builder, and that track was called Kart Space from Gran Turismo 5 & 6. It was the only track that I have ever built. And I will recreate that in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, only this time, it needs more ups and downs, and maybe some bumps. Hey, maybe I might wanna recreate the Hot Wheels Beat That tracks with the Track Builder, in which is also pretty awesome as well. In fact, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged should be called the REAL Hot Wheels Beat That 2: Unleashed. This game may have the livery editor and the sticker builder, but you are right, this game definitely needs wheel customization, especially on bikes and ATVs. But what about Monster Trucks? I hope that some AcceleRacers wheels in the wheel customization. But other than that, though, I do not care if I should wait until this game is on sale.

The fact you have to grind for the same cars again is not it, should’ve transferred the old cars and added 100 new cars. Another thing I don’t like is the lack of maps, yeah there’s different tracks but the environment should probably change throughout the race or something like Mario Kart. They really should’ve brought around 10-15 maps on release.

Yeah, this is 90% recycled content from HWU1. Although there are some improvements, pretty much every single one could've been an update to the original. And there are many downgrades that result in a "mid" experience as you put it. The new online system is horrible, reducing the private lobby size is awful, not being able to spectate races or see the finish line after finishing just feels boring. For me, the new checkpoint system of the track editor, stat customization and the sticker editor is what made me enjoy the game, but the other aspects I pointed out, make the game overall on-par with the first. Which is bad, because it doesn't justify them stopping the support for the first game at all. At the end of the day, I still feel the same way about these games: I enjoy them with the community, but otherwise, feels like some sort of a scam than an actual enjoyable videogame.

some smaller things they didnt impliment too: why dosent playing on a higher ai difficulty give you more coins? theres literally no point to playing on anything other than easy save for 1 achievement near enough. we got silencerz yes, but what about second silencerz? legacy liveries. seriously, forza has been doing this for years, its probably not hard to do. also on liveries, livery bleeding still hasnt been fixed on some cars. Im sick of adding light details only for there to be a long splash all down the side of the car. fix your livery hitboxes, milestone. some of the unleashed goals are still ridiculous to complete, not as bad as they used to be in 1,but still. they added mst-suzuka but not jaded. this makes ME jaded. in fact, there are a LOT ofold cars they should easily be able to impliment, given mattel probably has all the model resources readily availible. so adding them in is probably not a big ask programming wise. still 0 battle force 5 cars :( no 'generate random track' button I may be wrong on this but 'no method to play custom tracks vs ai in quick race mode' see above 'not getting coins by doing time trials' terrain customisation pieces in track builder would be nice.... they added waypoint mode...and no (to my knowledge) waypoint mode track builder. minigames, the staple of arcade racers. wheres 'capture the accelecharger' or 'battle mode', ect. I will say though the new jump mechanic is HUGE,AND VERY POG. and theres a lot of cool new cars. I also like the obstacle immunity stuff as i think it honestly does let you take better lines on some tracks. its one of very few upgrades that dosent also have a downside. not a fan of the 'tf2-esque' balancing of upgrades- just let upgraded cars be straight up better than stock, jeez. some context though: ipicked this up close to day 1 as it was a twitch sub goal for me so it was effectively 'free' for me (thanks my chat), so i may be overly positive about this game. It's good in spite of all the small issues.

There was an old Shockwave game series called Drift n' Burn. The second game had a MUCH better idea for track editing. There would be a machine that layed out the track for you like a fruit roll-up and you control it; what color, which way it turned, how tight the turns were, the angle of the track, jumps, loops. You name it. That game is almost 15 years old and currently unplayable by normal means and it's still better than this.

The online multi-player is the worst part of the game. The lack of Ranked Match Making, lobbies are 97% filled with sweaty tryhards. Also thanks to poor online servers you could win a race and receive no rewards. I do enjoy the modes outside of pure racing like the Gears mode and Waypoint. The magnetic tracks are too strong so now you understeer trying to drift on them. Cars get stuck to the walls and dashing doesn't do anything.

@@Wicked_Fox that's not really excuse when there's people using broken cars like the El Camino which has an unlimited boost glitch right now, and the majority of players are using the fastest and overpowered cars which makes the gameplay unbalanced. This issue could be solved with ranked online matchmaking and casual matchmaking. Or just let us get coins in private lobbies but OH NO WE CANT WOW

The main thing that makes me hesitant is the fact that the game regularly rewards you for hitting outside walls (Particularly while drifting?). It doesn't slow you down much, and gives you a little bounce. It's unfortunately a problem that comes up often with arcade racers

Honestly I think the major issue at least with the limiting creativity of the game is because it’s supposed to be more on an advertisement of the current toy brand more than a full fledge game on its own. They’ll let us put skins on the cars just because it’s a staple in most racing games and decent track builder, but won’t let us do more because it’s not similar to the toy releases in stores. They do a great job in that nostalgia of childhood play with racing cars across your house and backyard, but sometimes I wish they had more of the fantasy part of the hot wheels brand that got me into the franchise in the first place. I know acceleracers fans can be annoying with asking for more stuff similar to it, but I would love more creativity in the track selection like in the realms and more intricate obstacles. Or even a night time mode with headlights as an option.

IMO dashes and jumps were mistake from the start - shortcuts and convoluted tracks were already an issue in Unleashed which made multiplayer racing much less fun.
