I believe it may be due to the outsized cultural influence of England/English due to its history of empire. It's the homeland of the English speaking world, and by the way Australia, NZ, Canada and US are also popular destinations

it is a western country and the system is as such that everybody wants to make a buck in that system (as far as law-abiding people are concerned), or there are certain communities which just want to live off the welfare system bestowed on the masses,regardless of the fact that the welfare system would not be available to the future generations or not.
