"Last thing to do here..." should be a pat on the head for being a good cow I think
@atimidbirbАй бұрын
I had the same thought!
@CorinnaAtHomeАй бұрын
In an older video he showed an attempt at giving the cow a good girl scritch on her head and she really didn't like being touched. It was explained that they aren't really exposed to attention like that. As much as I'd love good girl pats, I think she's a happier cow without it.
@les_chegwinАй бұрын
@@CorinnaAtHome Ohhh fair enough. The cows near where I grew up were really social and curious and quite enjoyed a bit of attention. But it's maybe not the same everywhere, and as long as the cows have happy, healthy hooves all is well 🙂

Question; if you know they step asymmetrically, why do you trim them symmetrically? Why don't you leave the front outside taller than the inside (vise versa for the back legs) so that both claws make contact at the same time?
@Kasiek2011Ай бұрын
I think Nate would reply that it is all about angles. remember there is a bone inside each hoof and it needs to be positioned at the right angle. The other thing is the mechanics of cows walk itself, Nate made the video about it. Cows put their feet on the ground in specific order, before they put their weight on the leg. They do not just clap the flat foot to the flat surface, although it might seem so. You do the same thing, even if you put on your shoes with flat soles. You put your body weight on your foot from the exterior part of the heel to the big toe, across your foot, not straight forward. Cows have their own moving patterns as well.

I love the knife. Satisfying.

I was always curious at the end of the videos before you let the cows out of the chute why they are always drooling. Is it nerves, boredom, etc.?
@SylvelourieАй бұрын
I always wondered this too but some google searching and learning more about cows led me to believe it's a bit of stress. They are being taken away from their herd friends (very social animals) and calves and can't get back to them, even though it's for a short while. I think that's why they are feeling a little stress.
