In this part, I share some of the history of penmanship education during the Golden Age of Penmanship in America (late 1800s/early 1900s). During this time, just about everybody was being taught to write with their arm at school and as a result, there was an entire industry trying to figure out the best way to utilize and control arm movement in writing. What can we learn from this time period and incorporate into our modern goals of using arm movement for writing and drawing?
