So Dionysus is mostly known as the Greek God of wine also fertility & festival. And yeah Percy was def the bait there for Clarisse so they'd take the flag when she's distracted. Also Poseidon basically claimed Percy bcoz he wants his child to go on a quest for him XD & he did prove himself on the game

Aaaaand now you know why Sally named him after a hero who managed to live. Just as you said, he's been thrust into an impossibly dangerous situation with barely any training. Though, I can tell you that he has trained some. They didn't show it, but he's been practicing his sword fighting with Luke :) This episode also answers your question from the first episode, which is why Sally was sitting out in the rain. She's trying to feel close to Poseidon again. She misses him. It's a new scene that wasn't in the books, but I like it a lot. Speaking of, Dionysus tricking Percy into thinking he's his dad is also new! In the books they had a much more....normal introduction. I love this though. Not only is it hilarious (and mean, oof), but it also establishes several plot and character points quickly without the audience having to sit through a whole conversation -- which works in a book, but not as well on tv. This is a fantastic adaptation. Sure they're quickening the pace a lot and changing some things around (that's why the first episode felt a bit rushed), but every change they've made has kept the soul and purpose of the story alive. Which is wonderful, because Percy Jackson is a story brimming with heart and personality.

Dionysus is the god of wine and parties. He gets really over the top when he drinks wine and that is why Zeus forbade him to have wine.

Every adaptation has to change thing's but this one does it right of course the characters look different to the books that's not important the creator approved the cast and was involved in the show production

Clarisse's father is Ares, the god of war. This is why she is nasty.
