That 30 yarder to LaPorta, a little bit better blocking down field and that was a TD. Tim Patrick (17) looked a little lost out there for that play. Chalk it up to him not getting a lot of reps as a downfield blocker.

As a Lions fan, first let me say, Goff had a spectacular game. That being said, Goff currently has THE BEST supporting cast a QB could ask for in the NFL. From that O-Line, Gibbs and D-Mont, ARSB, Jamo, Patrick, LaPorta, and Wright. This does not happen without that supporting cast. Not to mention OC Ben Johnson. This was a true team effort. The stars aligned on this game too, because there were no situations for typical gimme incompletions. The Lions were ahead the whole game, so there was no hurry up, no obvious passing only, no spikes, and no throwaways. In fact, Goff took a couple of sacks in this game that another QB might have avoided, but that's another thing entirely. And all that just happened to line up when Goff was locked in while throwing the ball.

Jared Goff is a very good QB who most rate as a league average QB. If Trevor Lawrence for example had put up Goff’s numbers for the last 40 games, every NFL talking head would be calling him a top 5 QB. He will only get his due if he wins a Super Bowl. Awesome breakdown!

What I came up with was, because over 80% of his pass attempts came off play action, that apparently makes it “less impressive”. I’m baffled man.
