The standard has gone down somewhat in malaysia. The chicken are smaller and smaller, the taste is somewhat bland. No more bun or fries with the snack/dinner plate and it has been months without coleslaw either. It's just not finger lickin' good anymore.

KFC and Pizza Hut used to be the most popular fast food to go in Malaysia when I was growing up. But both seems so sad and quiet now. Sedih, padahal dulu2 tulah fast food we enjoy with family and friends. Sambut birthday, dapat result, any celebration we would buy them. I remember getting pages of KFC coupon stickers and actually finish redeeming all when I was in primary school. They have a special place in Malaysians heart for the nostalgia. Tapi not worth it to go now, mahal and the quality tak consistent.

KFC in Malaysia is pretty bad too, imo. But it all really depends on the branch because KFC is very inconsistent between branches. I don't know why the standards vary so much when Pizza Huts, McD, etc can keep a pretty consistent standard between franchises. And the "special menus" are almost always terrible, like changing the standard spicy flavour to the korean one and the pitiful chicken waffle.

SOP is important to ensure consistentcy..But then again having great SOP but not following is another issue. I remember long time ago..Its due to the inconsistentcy issue that Marrybrown close lots of their outlet.Nowadays, they reemerged with better SOP.Hense the quality improve vastly. No point of having 11 herbs & spices if these recipe are often not being followed.KFC is very nostalgic to Malaysian.Even atuk will know KFC..But if u say McDonald, Burger King etc..Some might just go pondering indefinately. KFC have such a big reputation.I really miss the good old days when Arwah Tan Sri Ali Hashim is spearheading KFC.

The difference is the oil use. KFC US uses corn oil which is polyunsaturated oil but Malaysia uses palm oil which contain mono unsaturated and saturated oil. Before US campaign on using polyunsaturated to be use in their fast food, beef tallow which is saturated fat was use. Polyunsaturated oil is a highly proses oil and very inflammatory to human body. It double carbon bonds are very reactive and can case lot of harms.

in Malaysia, yes as pointed out by many here, the two joints will always be KFC and Pizza Hut, as it is owned by the same company ie the Johor Corp. Overall, I would say, KFC in Malaysia, the quality too has gone down terribly over the past few years. The chicken has gone down two sizes and most of the time, all-time favorites like the cheesy wedges and the french fries would be either sold out or not available. But to be honest, I've tried overseas KFC, Malaysia's KFC by far is the best in terms of its taste and spice in it. I don't know why extra MSG perhaps. FOr the biscuit that u mentioned, here we have the butterscotch bun. Normal roti lah I would say. Glad that you are back here in Malaysia, welcome back man. You can see our beloved club-friendly again in Mamak perhaps. But for ur info, most Mamak now, not all are 24 hours anymore. THis is due to a lack of staff and others. Keep it real. #YNWA.

I believe 'traditional' fast food establishment like KFC, McDonald's and A&W are declining all over the world. The service, the food quality and ambience is no longer what we used to experience 20-30 years ago. As a malaysian, back in the days, these fast food are considered 'expensive food' and we are so happy and feel blessed to enjoy it coz we can only have it once or twice in a year! Happy expression can be seen in every person's face while they entering the restaurant. But nowadays,.all those excitement already gone. It slowly replaced by other brands which are more attractive and tastier.

We are currently having chicken crisis in Malaysia so the chicken from almost all restaurants are small.. But the taste for KFC in Malaysia is still good(in almost all branches).. For the biscuits we call it scones(since we are using Bri'ish English).. The KFC here give butterscotch bun instead of scones.. You are correct, we still have the original fried chicken and hot n' spicy fried chicken for the option.. As for the sauces, the famous sauce in Malaysia to have with KFC is the Life's Thai Chilli Sauce.. Other than that we have the normal tomato and chilli sauce, you can ask for add ons for ranch, BBQ and jalapeños cheese sauce.. My fav fries is from KFC, curly fries I love the ones from A&W and for scones we only have the ones from Texas Chicken(which is called Church's Chicken in USA)

OK when I did have this in Malaysia that was sometime ago ok this was crispy and tasted better. I don't see that in your video, so assuming that those are not the usual sides that comes with the fried chickens. And yes, our favourites is of course, the spicy chicken. I think recently they introduced the extra spicy ones. My family loves the chicken sandwich/burger too. In Malaysia, it's called the Zinger burger. It's my wife's favourite. And, Logesh, you're right. In Malaysia, KFC is a big deal. I dare say that most Malaysians, young and old, like KFC. So, no bad experience like what you have experienced over there. However, recently, all the outlets in Kuching (Sarawak) stop serving coleslaw. Not sure whether this is happening in other parts of Malaysia though. They say it's a "global supply chain problem" thingy. That's the only frustration I have so far at the local KFC.

Combination A&w n KFC Malaysia yes we had it, but in the early 90s it closed as the kfc move a few doors away (Jln TAR). No biscuits in KFC (we only have buns) but we can find them in Texas Fried Chicken. No chicken pot pie either, but we have rice bowl. And for the spicy chicken sandwich, it's Zinger Burger.

American KFC in the 1970s was pretty good. Their only product was the fried chicken (what we call OR in Malaysia now), coleslaw, mashed potato and bun. Yup, no biscuit although it was a traditional southern fried chicken staple. They probably introduced that later to compete with other fried chicken places that came up in the States. That combination “snack/dinner plate” seems to be standard worldwide, except for the UK where the set is fried chicken and fries (this was in the 90s). This is because Brits are used to chicken & chips (an alternative served at the fish n chip takeaway).

Finally! Kumaar Family has listened to us KFC lovers! I couldn't agree more, Logesh! There's no place like a KFC restaurant in Malaysia, especially because I enjoyed eating their delicious chickens since I was little and for this reason, I'll consider working as a delivery rider at KFC Indah Permai (the first KFC restaurant I actually went to and got my first toy from, when I was like 3 years old in 2004 iirc) before I get an actual job soon!

Ayam goreng A&W #1, MarryBrown #2, McD #3, KFC #4 & Texas #5 The last time I eaten KFC complete with bun, coleslaw & mashed potato was on Raya terkejut eve. It was a drive-thru. Order through Panda & Grab, no bun, mashed potato, coleslaw & wedges. Dahlah harga delivery mahal nak mampus, no sides orders & ayam cinonet jer. Ayam goreng Texas besar but not really well seasoned. Ayam goreng A&W the best - ayam not too small, flavourful, juicy & well cooked. Totally agree with your FIL. Before, yes. Now I'll think 10x before reaching out for KFC

One time I was going to school I stop by kfc to buy lunch I rarely eat fast food but on that day I felt like eating kfc so I went. First of all not enough staff literally there are only like 2 workers in the entire store second the drive true was always down. Third they often run out of food to. I ask for colonel burger out chicken bucket out and luckily they had the zinger which was ok. Fourth they don’t have paper bags. Fun fact Macdonalds always closes on day in a year so that kfc could make money and they did. Well this is how kfc in Malaysia is

In Malaysia KFC combines with Pizza Hut. A&W is a standalone franchise in Malaysia. I always love the Original Chicken at KFC but the size is definitely getting smaller everyday. We don't have the chicken pie and scone here instead we have a soft bun, coleslaw and mash potato.

Last time I ate KFC in Malaysia was 3 years ago. In Japan currently. It was still so good that time. The spicy chicken was so big, crispy and juicy. Even the breast part was juicy. Not sure about now though. Saw many comments saying the quality has gone downhill.

The chicken is getting smaller especially the zinger burger patty. Cheezy wedges is getting extinct as well. A lot of people prefer to go to Texas Chicken because of bigger chicken and Mcdonald because of their delicious spicy chicken

Some outlets out there don't maintain the standards in terms of chicken size & too often they were served dry & cold, meaning the chicken been sitting in the warmer for quiet awhile & not fresh from the frier..

Even now in Malaysia, KFC is no more no 1 fried chicken, many people more enjoy Texas Chicken (in USA is called Church's Chicken) or local brand that can be found as street food like Muiz. Or can DIY using flavoured flour that can be found in supermarkets like tepung Bestari or Don Chef etc. Maybe because people fade up with KFC Malaysia quality become downgraded. But for myself, KFC Malaysia is the most tasty, the most delicious than other countries KFC which I have been i.e. Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Mauritius etc (I only can taste KFC that offer halal food).
