Dr Halsey saw it when she first met him, he mopped the playground with his classmates winning easily and smiling while doing it, stood a head taller than the rest of them, was just plain intelligent and mature for a 6 year old. What's interesting to me is how (many youtube commenters as well) Cortana herself in the intro scene to halo 3 that John has alot of luck. More than most, as you can notice if you actually play from 1-3. You can see this as well in Fall of Reach during the coin flip, now that had more to do with John neurologically but, is also a classic metaphor, and you have to pay attention that it was done theatrically. Now not to say others haven't sacrificed for John, or that the fact that he's always had a way out or next step hasn't made sense contextually, but let's realize this as well. Does anyone else deserve this luck? Could anyone else withstand and make use of it? John suffers from his luck, almost being made to keep walking, I even believe there were some scenes ala Crysis 3 where he was basically battered underneath the suit. This speaks to the halo 4 interaction John had with that (forerunner lady? It's been years since I played 4) being who told him that everything in the universe had led him to that point on purpose, that he was a critical cog in the machine of cosmic life on a grand scale, which also speaks to his bleakness and inability to relate to others, while circumstantial (and due to PTSD), John as a fundamental being seems to be made to be stronger than others in every way and always in the right place in the right time, in a way he is the chosen one, in a much more true sense though John is cursed to his mantle. What else can we say about a man who watches everyone he meets die and has to ford alone through Halos, alien planets, destroyed human civilizations and the cold expanse of space? He just IS the best and he doesn't have a choice because he is cursed. Spartans were a whole society but in their time HE alone is known as THE Spartan, he sets the standard for the crystalline metal armor bearers because not a single other person could stand up to it.

@Henbird *The most advanced suit of MJOLNIR a non-Spartan 2 could handle due to being objectively less durable thanks to the augmentation not being nearly as intense. The Master Chief fought for over 30 years and was built to fight the Insurrection. Locke had maybe 5 years of training with MJOLNIR max, given that the Spartan 4 program went up in 2553 and Halo 5 was in 2558, while the Chief was fighting in his armor for so long it was basically just an extension of his body. Even if their strength was on par due to the Gen2 suits having a strength cap, the Chief still had far better reflexes, training and experience, and should hsve won won ease.

I have a fanfic character who is a prespartan that is a individual who was augmented before the spartan ones and two were created with various different augmentations when compared to the spartan twos many to the same effect. However, these augmentations were far more numerous, and far more effective compared to the normal spartan two augmentations. In total these augmentations resulted in a massive 10'7 human weighing in at over 1000lbs being capable of sprinting at a speed of roughly 120mph for upwards of an hour with a bench press over 3000lbs and a dead lift of over 7000lbs. This utter beast of a human being had basically every kind of augmentation you could think of making him practically unstoppable when it came to pure physicality though he was not much of a leader, and was much harder to control than the spartan soldiers because he wasn't indoctrinated from a young age.

I subscribe to the theory that Master Chief is the culmination of scattered gene song that was the Iso-Didact, bornstellar-makes-eternal-lasting. The child of the forerunner who build the halo ring, and was the one who ultimately fired it. Bornstellar was unique because he was imprinted with the Ur-Didact's knowledge and personality. Making him like clone of the Ur-Didact, the once supreme commander of the Forerunner army. in Halo 4, the mission reclaimer, the Librarian told master chief: "Reclaimer, when I indexed mankind for repopulation, I hid seeds from the Didact. You are the culmination of a thousand lifetimes of planning." now as to why the seed is the Iso-Didact, it's all explained by 343 Guilty Spark. Spark was the Iso-didact's friend before and after being converted from a proto-human into a monitor. his quotes at the start of two betrayals hint at it. "last time you asked me, if it were my choice, would I do it?" last time basically means the last time the iso-didact fired the ring. Sparks recognize Master Chief's combination of geas as the same one as his old friend, that's why he acted like they've met before and that's why he called chief a forerunner at the end of halo 3. Humanity isn't Forerunner, but Chief is a Forerunner in genetic. He's the reincarnated Supreme Commander of the Forerunner.

I can tell you without even watching. You see what made him special is his hatred for covenants. You see at first the spartan 2 program was ment to help with insurgents but when the covenant showed No one was prepared. So what they did was they brought the spartan 2s to a lab where the suits were now ill tell you he has grudge. After equipping the suits (the suits would kill a normal human but since they enhanced it did better with them) they practiced first before getting called up. After getting called Dr Halsey asked which team would like to try and take them (heads up they didn't know the force or the strength at this moment) and blue team volunteered. As most of us know that blue team in halo 5 is 4 members well guess what that's false blue team consisted of 5 members. After blue team managed to get on the ship they took a few covenant and seal them off. That's the bad part before they sealed them off a jackel managed to hit one of members and breached his suit meaning he couldn't go back out to space so he stayed behind the got nuked from the inside killing the one member and the ship. The member that died hit 117 mentaly causing him to go silent and speak only a little bit. When Halsey gave cortana to him and spent more time with he began to talk more specifically to her. In halo 5 her rampantsy betrayal ended up hurting severely mentally which caused his condition go worse. The reason why he's so special not because of some stupid reason it's because he made a promise and is severely pissed off causing him to be hyper lethal. He's like John wick except he can fly through space crash land from space to a plant get glassed gets attacked by flood covenants and forerunners and survives all of it

3:27 My man is true that Spartan 4 hasn't as much augmentation as Spartan 2 however, at the moment of the start of the Spartan 4 program many of the procedures made in the spartan 2 program were perfected in the Spartan 3 program (Noble 6 was a spartan 3) and made much safer for the spartan 4 program to exists, so actually the Spartan 4 are subjected to many of the same basic augmentation surgeries that the Spartan 2 program had except the most risky and unnecessary ones, because the new spartan exo-armors compensate with better Human-machine Interface and being most advanced and powerfull exosuits in general, obviously old spartans benefited too for these technology improvements, but in theory Locke should me much more deadlier and strong that master chief was during Halo CE, this is why also in Halo CE master chief has to be careful with heights while in Halo Infinite is jumping hercules, because his armor is much better than before and it has so many sensor and sensory improvements that the weapon can use them to even "smell" the flower while in Master Chief's armor. So yeah chief is a superior Spartan and Spartans II in general are superior, but as the technology to create Spartans has improved The UNSC can make good super soldier with much less risk (because in fact the procedures of the Spartan IV program are in fact dangerous too, but not as dangerous as the old procedures) also all the Spartan IV are from ODST and other elite combat and intelligence units from the UNSC and the ONI, so all the spartan IV are elite soldiers with years of training and real combat experience, which is much more humane than use child soldiers, but it is another discussion.

Spartan III's were orphans picked of the street and rushed through basic training. They were only given refined chemical enhancements, not invasive surgery like the II's were given. The IV's were ODST and some handpicked marines that were given the chemical enhancements and something else. They didn't have invasive surgery, but most of their internals were replaced with enhanced cloned versions. Don't know for certain, but some say fire team osirus was spartan IV's, others like myself think they were a test run for the spartan V class. I know that buck was an ODST, and Locke is an ONI agent, but the master chief will always rain supreme. (Until some demented fool thinks it's a good idea to start training 2 year olds.)

I think you are misinterpreting the lore a little bit, John is the most accomplished Spartan, NOT the most capable. The two things that really make him special are him being a natural leader among the SIIs and his ability to passively manipulate probability in his favor. Fred 104 is probably statistically the most capable Spartan as the lore says he is second best at every thing that makes a Spartan. I think that John was just unfortunate to have to operate by himself in the situations that he had to deal with, while Spartans like Fred have always had a team around them. I think that every other SII would have been just as effective or even better if they had been the ones present by themselves during Installation 04 campaign, because A SPARTAN II IS A SPARTAN II. I personally love the idea that John is not the most capable, and the creators of the Halo Universe could have easily decide to say he is the best of them in terms of capability but the wisely didn't. John has done his best and came through clutch for humanity on many occasions and that's what really makes him special.

It’s called project Orion in the halo universe and was a lot like the Spartan IV program, volunteer adults who were already in the military who were given augmentation surgery, it was not labeled a success however due to many deaths and other neurological side effects, those who survived and were able to still fight were stronger than the average human but over all the project was still considered a failure, SGT Johnson being one of the only Spartan 1s to stay in active combat roles following a few missions, it was later discovered that Johnson was not able to be easily infected by the flood due to his augmentation surgery damaging his nervous system in a way that made the parasite unable to properly infect him, that’s about all I know about Spartan 1s

Master chief has never been more awesome .and fun to control in gameplay.like.halo.infinte is not even close that grappling hook is crazy wish the story matched how good the gameplay is but uno what with good gameplay you can over look the story being weak but in my opinion a game with a good story but garbage gameplay always fails completely
