0:10 - "Wow this feels like a big power level increase." It honestly is. IDK how many other people have noticed this but Set 8 is introducing a level of power creep (and multi attack) that is alarmingly similar to what we saw with GZ and that is very concerning given that Standard didn't get adequate defensive creep to combat losing the diceroll (aside from praying to hit defensive triggers) to what is basically different takes of Tachikaze pre banlist (Quick Shield is not even close to being adequate) and we all remember how fun and interactive it was playing against unrestricted Angerblader when it goes first, right? To elaborate a little from just sets 8-10 we will have multiple decks that can outright kill on their first G3 ride going first if they roll decent or if they don't kill they end up so far ahead of you that the chances of winning (outright of sacking them to hell) don't look good. This "ride to 3 first" format is looking awfully similar to last year's "Accel Meta" with Overlord/Messiah/Schararot/Nightrose/Luard/HHW all being able to pull off their own version of Tachikaze opening Exodia on their opponent's Grade 2 except they're not Tachikaze so they'll be more consistent about it. But hey it's not all bad news since after all the format is diverse! You get to play one of *six* decks that go first and attack 4-5 times with big numbers while your opponent sits there helplessly while you also draw/cycle extra cards! It's just a matter of playing the deck that attacks 4-5 times with milling or the deck that attacks 4-5 times through self locking. Or you could play the deck that attacks 4-5 times in a different way! God we need another big banlist to reign in the insanity. Will we get it? I can only hope so because the alternative is more power creep and that's was one of the reasons how we ended up needing a reboot in the first place (among other reasons).

Personally I also think the new cards, namely the new Alter Ego, Lady Fencer and Volcogode, have a lot of potential in Premium as well, especially when you factor in cards like Dunamis Messiah that further assist in multi attacking.

I mean, if worse comes to worst and you don't find any ways to discard Volco, you can just guard with it. Sure, it doesn't have shield but whether you would guard or no-guard an attack, you can always add Volco to that guard, since you can guard with any grade. The restriction on the G4 is so easy to bypass in practice.

I'd say Pure, having to run Harmonics means you're cutting into your counts of the order or Volco, both of which raise the multi-attack potential of the deck like crazy, so I don't think it's worth unless the meta starts becoming tankier/slower

Well when V series Lady Fencer was announced I feel that was the sign that Messiah will get new support. But in all seriousness I do want to share a though that could be considered a hot take but could it be the reason Messiah and Overlord in this new set feel very OP is due to the fact that the way the decks where before where underwhelming. If you think about it this was the push Messiah needed as a deck to be strong. I remember people using the grade 3 Greion from the deletor TD as a first ride target in Messiah and even the grade 3 Brant. For Kagero if you think about it The End was decent as a deck but felt lacking to the point The Great was the build for Overlord even when The End was released. The X and the support it got felt like it mainly suports The End and is basically a deck centered around The End. Not sure if it makes sense but I hope it does.

Yeah it was the leap from high-cost, conditional power to low-cost, unconditional power. I played Messiah since it came out in standard and the deck was terribly slow and didn't have a lot of options. You needed a G3 in soul to get Harmonics' full effects off, which was only possible by waiting until 4th ride or getting lucky with Burst Monk. The deck also had a huge drain on resources, particularly soul which was hard to replace because you needed to rely on a unit from the Brandt set that only went into soul if your opponent didn't guard with triggers for the attack it boosted. Looking at The End as well the deck was focused on specific conditions to get its full effect off, since you had to ride over another Overlord AND give up having cards in hand for your opponent's turn in order for it to fully go off with both restands. This made it extremely fragile as a deck if you didn't finish that turn, compared to The Great, which had just the final result of having 1 card extra in hand from drive at the end of turn rather than 2, but guaranteed 5 attacks from restanding itself and Neoflame. X and Alter Ego are much faster sources of power and do the things their counterparts wanted to do but more consistently, and with new rear guards giving better effects that are lighter on resources as well, both of these decks represent stronger versions of what came out a year ago.

@@-Cetus- Precisely. Like I feel they where very underwhelming when they came out and now thanks to this people feel they are to OP becase they can do what they want to do better now than before. I have Messiah and The End as decks for standard when they where released and preffered Playing Deletors or Brandt and The Great compared to The End and Messiah. I agree with your points. Like Ive seen the things said about both decks now and thinking to back then and just canr help but think the reason they feel Op was because they where never really OP at all. What you mentioned is very true specially for The End.

@@kaisuzugamori4173 Yeah. What's more I expect a lot more decks to end up like this in the future, with lighter conditions to be able to do things, and less harsh costs. It feels like we're getting a preview into what Bushiroad wants Vanguard to become, with HOPT restrictions on cards they don't want to end up looping, and orders eating up heavy resources and hard minuses in exchange for better setups. I can see the potential for Overdress to up the number of orders significantly and to have way more HOPT clauses on cards in exchange for costs that combo into other units' skills and combo plays that make the game heavier on big blowout turns. It'll definitely need some defensive creep to keep the game from getting too greedy with powers, but it'll be interesting to see develop.

The ratios in this deck are really tricky. Since you can't search Volco in any way, you're basically cornered into playing four of it - and since you only have one ride target for grade 3 unless you play Harmonics, you're basically cornered into playing four White Dwarf. If you DO play Harmonics.. Well, you're already playing four Volco and four Alter Ego as well as the order, so it sort of de facto means that you're cutting copies of the order to play Harmonics.

I think there's a mistake in how you compared Destiny Dealer and Manipulator. You quantified Dealer's topdeck as a +1, and I agree with that, but if that's the case, then Manipulator's call onto the field isn't a -1 but +-0, because you do count cards on the field as advantage. The fact that she then draws makes her a +1.

It's a good explanation DF but it doesn't mean that you know OP .___. cause i often win with my bladblack / dailiner deck. and it's showed us how fragile the deck if i cannot pull Alter ego to ride it as G3 on the first ride as a G3 but after he got his pieces as what you mention in short it would be like this : 5 to 6 times attacks with average power 15k to 43k on each attack, can draw 5 to 7 cards in one turn. the clan can bind your RG and your intercepts
