Why is MrMatt so ANGRY after finding an unlocked lift motor room??

These lifts aren't particularly old, but it's the noise that they make that interested me - very noisy ride!! LED colour change lighting inside is good idea also.
Probably best you see the video regarding the unlocked motor room - WHAT A CHANCE RUINED!!
Sorry, I just wasn't thinking as I'd started early to catch early flight, worked late and then went lift filming!

color changing LED makes that lift fun. how bright is it in person?

Many venders leave the doors in that position so they don't have to get the key, now you have learned a dirty secret that may get you into more of these equipment rooms. Always chalk the door open with a pocket lighter because the locks are sometimes double sided requiring a key to get back in if you exit the roof door, it's no fun being stuck on the roof. (commercial fire alarm and card access tech)

I got so much stuff to say, first of all, sucks that machine room door was a witch. Next, I HAVE NEVER HEARD A KONE M SERIES CHIME THAT HIGH BEFORE (the main rainbow elevators of course.) And finally, that motor for the service elevator is spiced up

In the Netherlands in an old shopping center, there are 2 old lifts like these. 1 is a really old kone with 3 the same button panels! And the other one has been recently shut off, it was an really old kone goods lift. The buttons were replaced with the same kone buttons but that lift was epic. That whole installation is epic because there are lights under the lift which creates an interesting effect

Yes, it was a bit of an eye catcher. These are quite noisy lifts and when I found the motor room door I pushed it, it OPENED!!! Then I kind of panicked a little as I had my suitcase blocking open the door to the stairwell and wasn't prepared to enter and I let the door slam shut - this time it locked!!! Could have been so much better this video :(

If only I had the chance to look, well....actually I DID, but not after the door slammed shut!! I should have gone walk about AFTER I'd dumped my bag in the room, but nope!! This is what happens when you're really tired after travelling for most of the day - silly mistake from not thinking!

brianbirc Bullshit. I'm not puffing myself up. I don't repair or maintain the elevator equipment. I don't touch the equipment to repair it, but I advise the board of directors about the care of all elements of the building. That means I do cursory inspections of the equipment rooms. I'm also present for the annual inspections and some repairs. Our elevator inspector instructs me on what repairs need to be made showing me the problems when he can. That way I know what repairs need to be made to our equipment so I can be sure our elevator company is doing their job. I also have to document the issues, explain them to the board and get bids for expensive repairs. I've worked with many elevator companies, got many bids and have hired and fired many contractors. No one has chased me away from or told me that I couldn't enter any of the equipment rooms. This is a part of my job. The idea that I hire an elevator company and push them into some secret room that I can't enter is crazy. If I didn't work with my elevator company and our annual inspector, I wouldn't be doing my job.
