His confidence in restoring the Fox Moth is amazing. Fuselage is a lot more than a touch up. So sad the wings are burnt. But I guess with the correct drawings they can make brand new ones. Just like they make new ones for the Fokker. Looking forward to see it all being done.

What a source and Sense of pride you must have, to have not only preserved these airplanes but to have their history and stories come to light, and knowing what incredible roles some of them have played. To still have them flying and preserved today for us all to share love appriciate and learn from is awesome. I love the stories attached to these airplanes. I’d love to see a Buffalo documentary with the history and stories of all your old airplanes, the 3,4,46 all of those vintage birds. I wish Arnie was here to share all this. This is so cool!

Mikey , please keep those history stories coming about your planes. Wow so interesting. Your plane has had a lifetime of saving people, rescues, assist. Just knowing it's still flying and we'll taken care of and especially loved by you as your favorite is rewarding in itself. Thanks for all your hard work, editing, research, and all.... We love you here in Switzerland

I can see that Joe is immersed in his Fox Moth project and that converted jig will really assist in getting down to the detail work in the near future, what a great pity about those wings but all is not lost because Tiger Moth wings have been converted in the past for the folding wing brackets on the DH.83C,a bit of work to the main lugs and a study of the respective drawings will show how it is done, suggest that you contact Croydon Aviation at Mandeville in New Zealand who have restored a few Fox Moth's and will be able to assist in many ways.

Hi Mikey. Thanks for the efforts of you and your crew of Plane Savers! I’ve got a bit of history saving and flying an old bird too but that’s for another day. It’s probably fair to say that many of us share some DC3 history if we look for it. While updating my Ancestry on the web I came across a link between me and CF-TDJ that’s kinda cool. It seems that TDJ was Trans Canada Airline’s first DC3. On September 29th 1946 CF-TDJ left Malton bound for LaGuardia NY with my Mom and Dad on board... likely for their honeymoon to Florida. At the helm, according to the US Entry Declaration of Commander found on Ancestry, was another DC3 legend, Captain Carl Mallard. 😊

Mikey what you guys are doing is awesome! My dad used to take me to a workshop like that, they specialized in DHs too. We were lucky enough, back then, to meet some of the pioneers that flew them - amazing aircraft and amazing pilots. Love what you did with the DC3 photos. You touch on something re photos. Photos - even black and white ones - if reliably dated/datable - will tell you exactly how an aircraft looked and was kitted out at a given date/time. Original plans, design drawings etc are useful but quite often they're merely a statement of intent (perhaps only relating to a prototype) and not always the same details/construction as production aircraft turned out in the end. We live very near several old RAF bases that catered for the Parachute Regiment AND the 101st Airborne, 'The Screaming Eagles', Dakotas, Horsa Gliders etc were stationed all around these parts. We love DC3/Dekotas. There's wood carvings, stained glass church windows etc with them depicted and venerated hereabouts. Keep up the good work!

Hello, Rotisserie is (was) a kind a restaurant where you can eat roasted meat. The meat get roasted on a fireplace. The rotating device which holds the meat is called a "tournebroche" ! :) This kind of restaurant has vanished in France. Can't wait to see the "moth" and the Fokker flying again. Happy 2020 !

Just an observation Mikey. You are an accomplished vlogger. You take what many of us would consider a boring life in a mundane town like Yellowknife, which most of us have never been to and most don't want to visit, and turned into something interesting and exciting. You have taken all these assorted characters around you, breathed new life into them and made them bigger than life; folks like Benjamin, William, Stella, your dad and brother, the cat and dog, and never to be forgotten Chuck. These creations are people you would love to know and hang out with. I am totally addicted to your "Plane Savers" show. I literally can't wait for the next episode. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if you re-directed your God given talents and energy to scripting and directing Porn flicks. Then a lot of your audience would be suffering from serious insomnia.

Hi Mikey: just going through some of your past video's. This aircraft has major historical significance. Is there any other in the world that is even close and still flying today. Your photos clinch it. At some point it will need to be in a museum with photos and other documentation. Sort of like the DC3 as a wind vane in Yellowknife airport. That is impressive. Hello I'm that old fart skydiver from San Diego. I use to jump out of a DC3 at Otay Lake in southeast San Diego, short dirt runway with a lake at the end for ditching. It had a polish door on it. {that's what we called it}. The door was on the right side. only one I have ever seen. I'll see if I can find a tale number.

A DC-3 or a DC-2 for that matter could be ordered with a left side or right side passenger door or both. And, of course, with or without a "hamburger door." That's one reason the USAAC/USAAF had many different designations for a DC-2 or -3 since they bought small numbers before WWII in different configurations and impressed many civil airliners into service in the early part of the war. There was even a DC-2/-3 hybrid before the C-47 went into production.
