Jimmy... we think you're GREATTTTTT!! I'm struggling with my sons 2018 1.6l Vivaro. We removed a damaged, (injector No 4, no surprise there), and it's working great, need to put in the actual code, next week BUT, the van is still saying "particle filter clogged" 200292 "particle filter value, outside tolerance!" 200291! I'll get 4 plugs, and fit them, next week! Well done, Jimmy!

How do you know when the vehicle will need new glow plugs due to dpf getting clogged? If the glow plugs work when starting the car. Should an individual glow plug test be conducted first or does the emissions operation completely different from start and run. Just trying to learn as much as possible. Thank you for your content

Can you please explain what is the function of the glow plugs in a dpf system? On my 20+ year old diesel, the glow plugs are used to aid the engine the start and not during its run time.

I was thinking that as well, is there a glowplug/glowplugs in the dpf injector system to help combustion

I'm not sure but I can imagine that a glow plug fault will go under the category of faults that will automatically turn off DPF regen. There are multiple fault codes that does not have a 100% direct connection to the DPF but will make the ECU to turn off regen, and that ends up in a clogged DPF.

If a glow plug is faulty, it's likely causing the system to disallow dpf regeneration cycles. Seen an older Insignia with 3 dead plugs that still ran, although it took a bit to get started but I could see manufacturers coding silly stuff in to the ecu to ensure ready sales of service parts.

Because engine load. When regen happens, engine computer turn on electric accessories: Glow plugs, fan, back window heating etc.
