I've seen great results with Pondos and increasing the irrigation as you mentioned. I would skip the chemical treatments unless performing them as a preventative as others have mentioned. Once you see the damage often times it's too late. Mulch areas that are bare soil with woodchips 4-6" in depth and soak at 2-6am once a week as mentioned if possible for maximum uptake and cool soil temps. I really enjoy you gear reviews. It is killing trees all around me here in Eagle Idaho. I treated mine when they first started showing signs about 8 years ago and it seemed to bring them back a little but in the last 2 years they went downhill fast. They're both dead now. I removed one and the other one is waiting it's turn. They were 45-year-old trees.

Yes, the treatments I’m aware of only lasts for two years. It is really a sad thing to lose so many great trees..

@@Stridertrees Yes it is Josiah. I used Primera one. (Imidacloprid 2F) but didn't follow up on successive treatments as I should have. Both of the trees were leaners and too close to my house. I knew it eventually take them out anyway. Thanks for responding you have a good night. I'm liking your channel.

BAKING SODA 50LB BAG , empty the large bag of baking soda around the base of the tree, water constantly the tree will take up the soda and change the PH in the sap and the beetles will leave as they only tolerate a narrow PH range

I found a solar Insect Light Trap that is catching and killing the bark beetle from King Catcher Africa organically without using pesticides, and it works autonomously with low maintenance.

Climatologists and environmentalists sounded the alarm about this over two decades ago... and now the problem has come home to roost. Drought stress and increasingly warmer winters have allowed the beetle to expand its range to much higher elevations. Been backpacking in the High Sierra for over 30 years and the devastation is horrific. Millions of trees have been killed in recent years. A chemical treatment for a tree that’s been infested is probably too late, and there is definitely no treatment for denial of the root cause of this problem 🤦‍♂️

You’re right on all counts, the only reason to use a chemical treatment would be on one or two individual specimens that a person really wants to save in a residential setting. For example I have one client who I’m building a raised platform for so I have treated the two trees involved in that. It may yet not be enough.

Suppression of forest fires and forestry practices of leaving large amounts of discarded timber are far more relevant. But congratulations on being smug while simultaneously less educated, as your type often are.
