Thanks! I noticed my spa was down 6” this morning and pool level was ok. Got my answer here, went up the road and bought a 2” Pentair cv, replaced the guts, and no more problem. 1 hour from watching video to replacing the guts of the cv. 👏🏼👍

My inground spa drains down to the water jet level whenever the pool is off. I have changed the main return check valve and a diverter valve. I shut off all other valves that could be "siphoning" off water. Tonight I put the rubber stoppers into every spa jet and this is the only thing so far that has worked. Not a practical solution, but it does seem to show that the problem lies between the spa jets and the pool equipment. Kidney shaped pool with waterfall type spa in the concave part of the kidney. 28,000 gallon main pool. Spa is partly above ground. Very frustrating. Any help is appreciated.

I just asked this question on your valve video. There is a small drip in one of the connections to my new filter that hasn't been fixed yet. I can't imagine this causing the backflow, but what do I know? Hope you do. There is a benefit to having it drain out, as I mentioned in my other comment in the valve video. Thanks

If the hole is big enough for water to leak while there is water pressure, then the hole is big enough for air to enter when the plumbing pressure drops. When the air surges into your system, the water with backflush into the pool. So if you hear a whistling or a gurgling sound from the filter when the pump turns off, that area should be your first focus.

How do you completely drain the spa before changing the spa check valve? I opened up the spa check valve housing when the spa level drained overnight, but water still gushed out of the housing. I don't want to lose 100s of gallons of water or more. Thanks!

I see you answer questions, too! Okay, so the pool company said I need a leak doctor to find out why my spa is draining when the filter pump is not on. I said that can't be the issue because the water refills the spa when the filter pump turns on again. I have no missing water. I have a pretty big pool so any leakage is hard to detect - even with all the water out of the spa, so I guess it's still a possibility. What do you think?

I am experiencing this issue and found one potential culprit that you may be able to confirm. In 'pool mode' both the spa return and the pool returns are open, providing nice circulation and a good spillover. When the pump stops, the actuator leaves the pool/spa valve in the spillover mix position. Should it move to the 'spa closed' position when the pump is off? Thanks!

Where is the check valve?

The check valve is typically located near the pool equipment. It will be plumbed in line on the return side.

Since you want to give an answer.....what if spa drains but water does not go into pool. Where does water disappear to?

@@Inyopools Was there a solution to this? my pool is doing the same. not sure where water is draining though, but when pool starts up, it sucks all the water out of the pool to fill up and then i have to fill pool back up.

When my pool starts, it drains the spa completely and all water goes in to the pool and system turns off (I am assumin because spa is empty). Any suggestions?
