I love how you're from the US but you gave all the dimensions and weight of the bike computer in metric measurements. Thank you 🙏 I wish everyone in the states just switches to metric. If the government can't be half assed to do it, the public should just get on with it.

Hi Matt, thanks for the review. Very helpful as I’m looking for a new bike computer with GPS navigation and had only zeroed in on Garmin and Wahoo. I won’t be participating in any races or event, but I’m planning a short bicycle holiday later this year. I started on road cycling about 4 months ago, and it has been the best thing for me health wise, and mentally during the lock downs due to COVID-19 here in Thailand. I have now gotten my wife into the sport as well; we recently bought her a bike (Merida Scultura 400). Now back to the bicycle holiday later this year, in previous years we would usually do a road trip (with our electrical vehicle) as we get to see the country more compare to flying. Now, we are thinking back on the beautiful places we have seen, and would want to go back doing a couple rides as well. The exact location for our first trip would likely be around the beautiful Khao Yai National Park. I have gotten ok at planning routes on Komoot, but the challenge is to find the right bike computer with GPS navigation as the phone tends runs out of batteries around the 4 hrs mark. I hopeful that we will have many trips like this in the future, and it would be great with to have a solid bike computer help us navigate.
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Komoot seems to be a great tool for planning these rides. Almost all of these computers with navigation should be able to support that option. Sounds like an amazing trip. Hey matt im just wondering if youve released the winner to this competition. Thanks so much. Also are you going to be doing a comparisom between the karoo 2 wahoo bolt and garmin 540.
@NeutralGenericUser3 жыл бұрын
Was there a leak for the 540? I just searched for it and can't find any info whatsoever.
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick! Someone named IntroBro ended up winning this. I'll add a comment and pin it to the top so everyone knows. My plan is to review the Karoo 2. In that review I'll probably compare it to the Garmin 1030+ because I think that computer is most similar in size and features but I'll also put it next to the old Bolt and a few other devices so you can see just how big the device is. The Garmin 540 isn't out yet. No news on that but you probably were thinking 530 which I'll also try to mention. If you do have any specific question, let me know. I'll try to answer them early before the Karoo video comes out. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👌

@@mlegrand Yeah I meant the 530 as i personally think they are the other two best bike computers.

Hey Matt, great video and helpful critique. Does the Rider 750 have Gravel & MTB specific categories to find trails and routes near a point of interest? Getting back into cycling!
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
I didn't see any gravel or MTB specific features on this device. Really the only device that I've noticed that distinction is on the Garmin devices. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

I had to laugh when he tried to use the search destination by voice function - it's very much like their customer service i.e. non-existent. I've tried to contact Brytons customer service with a couple of queries but they just don't reply. I was considering this device but will be going with one of the other three main players in the bike computer market now.

Sorry you’ve had such a hard time with customer service. One of the videos I want to make is something about which company has the best customer service. I don’t think it’d get many views but I think it’d be interesting.
@simonc61 Жыл бұрын
@@mlegrand it's like they don't have anyone in their office? I've even emailed their parent company here in the UK, Zyro Fisher but heard nothing. Hammerhead seem to have the best customer service from what I've seen so far. I'm just not sure I want to spend that much on a device?

You can guarantee there will be. I may still take a chance and go for the Bryton . I watched a few videos, including yours (excellent btw) and it seems to offer a lot for not much money. I can't remember ever needing to call Garmins support so maybe Brytons lack of communication isn't such a deal-breaker. They were offering a 20% if you subscribe to their email newsletter but I've had no response to that either!

LOOK AT YOU, International celebrity! Mapping comparable to Garmin/Wahoo, IE - will put you on a sidewalk if you ask for directions in the middle of a ride? Does it have a screen sleep function? Garmin has one, where you can turn off the display, but still record everything. I have gotten 30+ hours out of a charge doing that. Fall is mountain bike season here, how does it do off road? With that, adventures are all mountain bike based and stupid fun. Be on lookout for a message, I'll show you latest. XOXO
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I took it mountain biking. It doesn't have anything MTB specific like Garmin but it works. And yeah, navigation . . . I think Garmin is the company that could really look at their massive database and look at decent spots to route as opposed to "Take the sidewalk" Thanks for watching this one. 🙌

Bryton's support is just crap, they don't answer to requests, there are no forums to discuss issues, there are no firmware release notes page on their website to check the development progress, and the community is so small, that once invested in their product you probably won't be able to resell it as the retail price point is ridiculously high. And one more thing: even this expensive head unit from Bryton still lacks the ability to control light. Right now, only Garmin and Hammerhead (Karoo) can do that, for me that means they do care for their customers more than Bryton or Wahoo. So if I ever replace my Edge 130 Plus, that would be something from upcoming x40 series from Garmin or Karoo 3, if they fix the battery life.
@mlegrand2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's a really good point that a lot of people really don't think about. There's a lot more than just the product to think about buying these things. Community and support is often overlooked. And it's critical when things go wrong. Reddit maybe? 🤷🏻♂️

I will never buy another Bryton product. I bought a Bryton Rider 750 which I really like but the battery failed after 4 months. They replaced it but it took over a month. The second one’s battery failed after 7 months and over 2 months later I have given up hope that they are going to replace it. Their customer service is terrible, so I recommend that you stay away from all Bryton products.
