They also made it open source across the world meaning that everyone has access to it to develop their own AI now. Nothing that costs billions of dollars anymore. I don't see why it would change. It doesn't change buying GPU's. That's not what this is about. NVidia will continue to be sold out as they always have been, but this does open up the market to much more opportunity. Essentially it just went from being "controlled and private" to "Open Source". This let's anyone develop AI now and puts the control of the cost in the buyers hands. Meaning NVidia will need to be competitive again. NVidia will stay a monopoly for now, but it does open the door to AMD and Intel being able to develop competitive chips. So, this is very good for buyers.

not right! The value of Nvidia was based of that only they made shovels that could dig gold (or at least their shovels were super optimized for it). Now it seems you don't need or not that many 'specialized' shovels ,there are more type of shovels that will do. Result, Nvidia loses their pricing power and margins (and probably even volume) will drop. Printing money right now with my shorts, but not selling them , they will be at 75 (probably less) in 6 months.

All the tech companies have actually considered the improvement of the efficiency by roughly 5 times per year in the algorithm of the models, but still based on that the projected computing needs will still be 10x per year hence they are planning such a big spending. In my opinion they won’t change that much on the spending.

American companies have shown no return on investment for AI. In fact it's billions of dollars on promises right now and nothing has panned out. DeepSeek has made this much, much worse as their AI is open source, meaning it's significantly cheaper and the source code is available for everyone world wide to develop AI now. It's means Microsoft doesn't need OpenAI anymore. They can develop their own. Huge moment in the tech industry.

Deepseek is open weights and open architecture but it has not disclosed the training data and the codes to train the model. This doesn’t mean anyone else can train the same way as they do. Microsoft has their own models for a while it’s not like they have to learn everything from deepseek. Look deepseek has created some innovative in their architecture and training process but all largely based on published papers and standing on the shoulders of other previous open source models like llama. The roads are just being built but you are expecting cars are running all over it

That whole Deepseek R1 is on an o1 level and OpenAI already has o3 which is way, way beyond that. Compute is a huge issue with o3. And even if OpenAI did the same thing as Deepseek and reduced the costs of o3's prompts 10x or even 50x, that'd still be way too high. Companies will still need much more computing power and new tech to make their AIs better, cheaper, and faster. It's a war - you can't be stagnant with what you already have, so you both invest in new Nvidia's tech and optimize your AI the way Deepseek did - this is the only recipe to be the winner in this race. Nvidia is still a huge buy.

Assuming that DeepSeek has made a good model and its true that they only spent $5M on training, since it is open-source I don't think there are too many secrets here that can't be copied. By the way the inference to deliver this to a bandwidth millions of users is definitely not in that price. They are running on Nvidia hardware and more efficient training just means the whole market will be able to afford to expand quicker. Nvidia are supply constrained with datacenter GPUs with forward orders and by the time the orders are filled the expanded market will ask for more

In the end, what matters is how much compute power you have. Americans will find plenty of ways to use whatever compute power they have. If somebody finds a way way to make more cups of lemonade per dollar, will any company make less lemondade? No. They will just make more lemonade at a lower price and still make a bunch of money. Wrong! software can be bloated or lean. If it's bloated then it will run like crap on tons of the most expensive hardware. If it's lean and developed well, then it will run on anything in the last 10 years. This is what DeepSeek has shown. But this has always been the case. Linux has always ran on much less hardware then Windows. AI software running on half the hardware requirements or less is huge!!!! Like massively huge! OpenAI and all American AI companies will go out of business due to this laziness on their behalf.

Correct assessment imo. Just like with the exoskeleton for army purposes. It could make life easier for soldiers, but instead they are now just projected to wear 3-6x the amount of extra weight on them. The same will happen to AI if it gets more accessible. There will be more demand for it, not less

I was thinking the same, It may take a while before the panic and fear goes away and logic takes over, but in my opinion NVIDIA is a company with a high internal value because they make a high end product that is in high demand, and when people can achieve a lot with little investment, the demand will skyrocket because more and more governments, compaies and individuals that didn't have the economic power to be invoolved, can now enter the game without risking much. When the confusion cloud goes away, NVIDIA will bounce the same as it went down, like never seen in the Wall Street.

I agree totally with you now is too soon to have. clear conclusion. LLM only comes to public’s eye less than a year. We are now only in the infancy stage of AGI. In any case, Deepseek means both positive and negative to NVDA’s business story. We do need to have a bit more patience on this matter. In the meantime, I am not selling NVDA. I even actually bought some more Monday. Fingers crossed.
