I have had a couple 84 GT350 cars. I can’t believe how under appreciated these cars are. I think the best part is the story behind them with Shelby sueing Ford over the use of the stripes.

The 93 Cobra was legendary in the 90’s, but I agree on the ‘84 gt350. 4 eyes are becoming way more desirable and for all the right reasons. I bought my 1985 GT being the last year of carbureted engines. I purchased a decent car that isnt rotting for some of the same reasons you did, but most of all, I wanted one since my teens. Great stuff Randy

I think that the 1993 Cobra appreciates more for several reasons... 1st SVT Mustang.. last of the foxes.. the intake heads are rockers were legendary variations of the GT40 parts that were the 'go to' go fast parts back in the day, plus it was the return of the Cobra name in US since 1981... while the 84 GT350 was not a Shelby nor was it parts wise anything more than a standard GT and pretty much a paint and tape stripe car.. I'm not sayin they are not cool.. I remember being a kid and seeing them new.. but the fact that the Cobra was SVT and mechanically improved really pushed the desire to have one. Personally I like the car, but I'd much rather have a 79 Pace Car, 80/81 Cobra or an 82 GT instead of the 84.. I'm also surprised that the SVOs have not gone bananas in price too. Great video.. love your collection.

The fact that the 93 Cobra is the last of the Foxbodys is a big factor. The GT350 was expensive at the time, my sticker price on my 84 GT350 conv was $16,161 which is a lot of money for the time. Also color choice is limited to only white red int. Not many people like that combo. Teal, red & black vs bland white. Not to be forgotten is the wheel-tire problem with the 84 TRX rims. They were tremendously expensive $400.00 ea tire from Coker tire. Now available thru LMR in 16in. Another issue is the fuel injection motor in the 84, 1st year for it & there were problems. Nobody knew how to work on them. The GT350 was underpowered vs the 93 Cobra. I love both my 84 GT350 & my 79 Cobra 🐍 Great video 💯

I am a ford guy, and love them both. I ordered a 93 cobra and still own it to this day. I also own an 84 GT 350. As well as an 83 5.0 convertible and an 88 GT convertible. But my favorite mustang is 1st gen. And my son and I own 3 D code 4 speed cars, one is a convertible, and we own a 260 automatic car. For those that may not know, D is for the earliest 289 4V engine in the early 65 mustangs. Some call them 64 1/2 Mustangs, but they were all titled as 65 cars. I do think it will not be long untill the 350 will be bringing serious money. Thanks for the good video.

My first car in high school was a white 84 GT hatch that my father and I restored/freshened into a show winning car before I turned 16. I still have the car. I remember back then that the GT350’s would get more attention at shows etc. We considered them fakes at the time, I suppose it is because my parents had and we still have a 1968 GT500KR convertible that they purchased brand new (soon to be restored). I guess being a Shelby family, the 84 GT350 was kind of offensive, seems silly but I think some felt that way and it gave the car a stigma. I personally like the 84 GT350 now and may own one at some point. Although I am a four eye guy, I have a 16 GT350 among several other late model Mustangs and find the S550 body to be the best looking they have built, in my opinion.

I’m with you on this. I love all Mustangs but it wasn’t until the foxbodys when I could actually buy new. I wanted a GT350 when I graduated college in 1984 but my dad more or less forbid it. I was working for him so I had to listen. I ended up a year late with an ‘85 SVO and fell in love with that version. Traded it 5 years later and regretted it, but did appreciate the new design and had 86 headlights installed. 8 years later I bought a used ‘89 LX 5.0 vert. Still have it. 10 years ago I reconnected with my SVO love. I now own 2, one with only 30k miles and nearly all original. Also loved Shelby’s. Got a 2013 GT500 vert with 1400 miles. Insane! It’s my favorite Mustang. And just recently, I finally bought the version that I waited in June 1984. A GT350 5.0 convertible. 47K miles all original except the original owner bought the LMR 16” remake of the original wheels making it easier to buy tires and making it ride better. But I have the factory wheels in case I ever sell. It’s all factory original with the numbered dash plaque along with the original owner plaque. I never really wanted a 93 Cobra other than the engine and extra 25hp’s. And I have the 20th anniversary SVT Shelby and 1st of only 2 year with the 5.8L engine plus the last of the manual GT500’s and convertibles. It looks awesome next to my 20th Anniversary Mustang GT350.

It would be killer to voodoo swap an 84 gt350 w a t56 magnum trans and do a retromod type build nice wheels and brakes and updated suspension etc. I think since it wssnt different mechanically that makes it ideal for that type of build. It would be super cool having a modern gt350 engine and even modern style gt350 wheels. Also pretty sure those brakes are 94-04 not specific to the 03-04 cobra. Cobra r had upgraded brakes all other cobras were the same 13 inch disc twin pistin caliper brake setup w 11.65 inch single in rear..

I've owned 4 foxes, all of them 4-eyes. I was a teen through most of the 80's, so I grew up on these cars. I remember when the aero cars came out in 87, I didn't like the look. I think my reaction was; "What is this a Taurus?!", "Did Mazda design the interior?!", "Cheese grater tail lights?!" Thirty plus years later, I've softened a bit on them and I appreciate all of the Fox Mustangs for how special they were/are. That being said, I still think the 4-eye GT cars have more character. Here's my breakdown why. 1. The deep set bucket headlights look racier..especially when painted flat black 2. Marchal fog lights...just a cool piece of racing heritage from another time 3. Aircraft dash bezel...I know its plastic with fake allen screws, but it just looks cool and ties in some P51 history 4. Halo head rests...just looks way cool and race car-ish 5. Hood graphics...either painted like 83-84 or decals like 85-86, adds some 60's coolness 6. Dual snorkel intake 82-85...another throwback piece that covers a HOLLEY 4bbl carb (except 82). How cool is that? 7. TRX wheels..weird as hell with dead end tire options, but they looked awesome. The 16" repros would be one my list. As to why the 93 Cobra has more collectibility over the 84 GT350, I think that's obvious. It has way more performance development over the standard GT (30+ hp, suspension, body kit, brakes), its the first SVT Mustang, and the last/best performing Fox. The GT350 by comparison was just a sticker/paint job. Although I will give Ford credit for giving each one those sport articulated seats. I had them on my 84 GT and they are a rare option. Ultimately, the aero cars have more standard performance, slightly better brakes, and more aftermarket support. I'd still take a clean 4-eye though. This is all subjective though. I'm sure someone will hate the list I made and come up with one for the aero fox. Viva la Difference!

My T shirt says 4 eyes are better than two 😂 My 1983 GT convertible is the return year of the convertible and low factory numbers around a 1000 built. I prefer the look of a 4 eye over an aero look, but it's about choice. IMO an older car should be worth more especially the early Fox bodies, but it all about the love. ❤

I'm 57 and have had Foxbodies for the past 42 years. I have found that the age group for the most part is the separation on the glass headlights and the composite version. Every time I found someone replacing the 79-86 nose it was age related. The 93 Cobra is the most factory modified Foxbody Mustang ever built.

Disagree I think the 4 eye interior is just as good and in some ways stood the test of time better than 87-93 did. The layout looks more similar to 94-04 than it does 87-93 it showed it was a more futuristic style interior and imo holds up better looks wise. The 10-14 is better than 05-09 interior but it isn't some super drastic difference they came better equipped factory with sync and stuff I prefer the dash and gauge layout but honestly the older ones are that bad people over exaggerate. I have an 07 gt500 and a 12 boss and while I understand the boss is based on a base model car the Recaro are nice and the gauges look nice. It's a better layout but it isn't drastically different. I do like the button color better on the newer ones.
