4:40 in these times Europeans made maps with the East pointing to the top, we are actually looking at the Caucasus in this frame. The three seas on the left side are the Black, Caspian, and maybe the Aral. And between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea you can see the name Georgia 🇬🇪.

Georgia (country) is named after Saint George. Georgia (US state) is named after King George.

1:01 this japanese name is very recent, it was called "Gurujia" (from Russian word for Georgia) for a long time, it was changed because it came from Russian, don't know why they didnt change it to an endonym but whatever

The greenish blob on the left that looks like a long-headed creature with a tailfin is the Black Sea (the tail is the Azov Sea, while the head is the Caspian Sea; the neck is a mixture of a river and some other geographical trait), while the similarly-coloured blob on the right that looks like some hungry beast is the Red Sea. The name "Georgia" is found in a place up (East) from the Azov Sea (just find the tailfin and go up until the mountain range, which is the brown wriggly serrated line; the name is under it). 5:00 nope, Georgia (although the r is old style, looking a bit like a narrow, rounded modern z). 8:38 I suppose that for the same reason they kept calling "Gauls" to the inhabitants of different lands, although in this case they did spice the names a bit (Cisalpine Gaul and Transalpine Gaul are not very clever, but other parts with "gauls" received names like Gallaecia or Gallatia). 6:09 but that wouldn't have come from Persia, but from Byzantium (that's the approximate English translation of the Greek georgós, from which the name "George" stems). 7:25 Christianity is language?

After the collapse of the USSR, they adopted a version of their flag from 1918 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Georgia_(1990%E2%80%932004).svg then changed to the current one in 2004.

it's the Dieletical name of the Eastern European country not the South Eastern US state that has had around 3 dozen people killed from Hurricane Helene 8 days ago though the hardest hit state is North Carolina which has nearly 100 people dead of the over 200 thus far confirmed dead and in there is nearly 700 people still missing

Fun fact: In Lithuania the official name for Sakartvelo/Georgia is "Sakartvelas". It was changed from the old Russian name "Gruzija" back in 2021.
