Currently at 34m slayer xp, it's probably the least repetitive given such a wide variety of tasks. It trains all combat skills and makes you money. It gives me an incentive to get certain boss pets, and it's rewarding when you get big item drops which is the reason I play osrs in the first place

I hated slayer until recently - and I've played "OSRS" since RS2 beta. Wasn't a fan of killing x enemies and going back to a master and repeat but with all the teleports and NPC contact, it makes it more bearable.

I'm 94 slayer and honestly hate it. I'd say it's my least favorite skill by a mile. The entire skills value boils down to a 15% damage bonus against bosses. Thats basically it's only unique aspect. Everything else is just pointless busy body work that no one would be willingly doing. Just fetchquest the skill. It's technically diverse in the sense you'll get a mixed bag of rotated tasks but again outside of bosses this gets so insanely repetitive and the rates are so trash even with the most optimized methods that you burn out really easily. Slayer exclusive bosses are cool but when you think about it if slayer didnt exist you wouldnt have that 85+ skill level wall and wouldn't have to grind forever just to unlock them. Most of the time I find myself wanting to pvm I end up with bad tasks and just quit and go do the boss I feel like doing off task anyway.

My love for slayer has made me want the new skill to be a skilling version of Slayer, gathering tasks that have you aquire materials all around the game along with unique task only gathering locations. Then you use all the materials gathered to use on a processing skill task. Giving more meaning to leveling up your skills other than quest, diary or maxing goals, aswell as passively leveling all your skills. Could also include skilling bosses into these gathering tasks, having to do Wintertodt for Phoenix feathers for a special potion order, or aquiring a rare fish from Temporos to fulfill a catering task. This could also open up adding more skill related mini bosses that make training even more interactive and rewarding.

What you just explained is exactly slayer lol…… its a skill that has you gathering materials, all around the game, and you can even choose to use those items to further process things….. what you explained is not new its been there for years dude

@@AJ42069 Basically the point slayer just focused on skilling not combat. I've met a ton of players who either neglect their non combat skills or simply don't do pvm at all. This would be a option to add a ton of variety to training skills to break up the grind while also rewarding players for it alongside and incongunction with the minigames/skilling bosses added. Can't just cater to Ironman this would in theory benefit everyone. Imo its the safest new skill as it amplifies what we already have and it's basically just a different version of slayer which is for the most part a well liked skill.

I think the most important parts of slayer enjoyment are loot lottery. things like fire giants that have nothing amazing their table but there's a variety of small things like runes and when that much rarer rune scimitar pops up, it feels special.

I love slayer, I cant really put in to words the exact reason though. But does play to one of osrs's strengths, pvm and I mean pvm beyond just bossing. What other game do you know most of the mobs? I couldnt name you many WoW mobs from the last like 5 expansions, I can probably name you 70%+ of rs's. Along with a bit of each mobs droptables. There's also the idea of equipping for the task. You change your gear a bit depending on what the task is. When the hell do I change my gear in other mmos? Only for some raid/dungeon encounters if that.

as a skiller this just made me realize charlie the tramp is the slayer master for skillers. IE: beginner tasks "i need a fish caught by you" id like to have more of that but on a bigger level

You definitly Focused on mainly the good aspects for the low - mid lvl community. The higher lvl community that use slayer as a way to hunt pets or specific tasks such as Jad/zuk would tell you otherwise. When You have to turael skip for hours to get a specific task because theres no system for prefered tasks then you have a broken skill. Untill they fix Turael skipping ill always view this skill as in need of fixing/rebalance. Reguardless video is good.

I want a "slayer" skill for skilling. Go chop 400 maples, fish 45 sharks...something like that. Unlock better methods and gear for skilling or resource areas like dungeoneering used to unlock

I really dread slayer. Having to tele away, talk to an npc, change your gear, and head to a new area every 30-45 minutes is just an annoying chore. Plus the XP is so ridiculously slow. Always found it peculiar that it was OSRS's favorite skill.

personally it's not mine, but i like slayer, i think its a good excuse to do pvm, and also npc contact helps with slayer, or if your using duradel you can get the diary gloves for the tele straight there.

Slayer is great, but the way OSRS has 'improved' it over the years it broke the Skiller - PVMer economy in order to make it ezscape for ironmen. Before, slayers had easier access to rare drops, but had to trade those rare drops for supplies from skillers to farm more monsters. Want a trident, a whip? Swag light mystic robes? Better grind slayer, or grind GP to trade for it. Now if you need money? Train slayer and alch all those 1/50 rune armor drop tables. Need supplies for skilling? Train slayer for stacks of noted supplies. The reason I don't touch my main anymore is because slayer/bossing has injected so much raw GP and supplies into the economy that you're pretty much stuck doing slayer for raw GP alching and rare drops that slayer itself has become repetitive as any other activity in the game, ground down to a simple gp/h game, instead of going for those wicked ultra rare drops. And despite me conceding the fact that Ironman has become ezscape with all the skilling bosses/minigames and massively buffed pvm drop tables to sustain supplies as an ironman, Ironman mode is the only way I can enjoy the game without it devolving into a gp/h grind vs bots.

Honestly, I just started OSRS a few weeks ago and I really don't enjoy Slayer. Having monsters exclusive to levelling up a skill makes no sense to me and the bosses and dungeons could be put out in content you don't need to farm a ton of monsters just to be able to access. I only did a few tasks and I was bored out of my mind, and I'm usually pretty immune to grinds.

hey i get you, i do think that the early grind is really bad, but maybe you will grow to like it. it does get a lot better, but theres plenty of other stuff to do in osrs i genuinely think thats one of the great things about it.

@@Aggatin I disagree, even when you have 95 slayer you can kill Hydra, which is worse money than muspah, vorkath, solo ToA, etc. You kill garbage monsters for 300 hours so you can kill worse vorkath.

@@Edge9897 I think hydra is better than vork, maybe not for time/ supply. toa solo and muspah are relatively newer content in comparison so i do think power creep has occurred a little. but i think if your going solely off of one thing like efficiency or money per hour, i will agree its not the best over all. i just think people enjoy the variety it offers. obviously people have preferences and not eveyone is going to like it on the same level. i respect your view though its definitely a valid point, tbh i think with the small increments of power creep most things need a little update. or being they need to add new content in line with mupah to slayer.

Slayer is the skill that does the stuff I hate about other MMOs. In most games you have to kill X Mobs over and over again for questing and they made that into the Slayer skill in OSRS. It just doesn't feel right for me to have this kind of tasks in a game that is such a great sandbox anywhere else.

they did actually "fix" this task. you can do demonic gorillas to get zenyte shards which are a component in the most powerful jewelry in the game
