I’m pretty sure some parts of it are actually being currently painted I don’t really agree with the lap bar thing since holding yourself in a over the shoulder restraint is a lot easier to hold onto and the head bashing has never happened to me on any ride and lap bars really hurt my thighs whenever I go upside down but I do see why people like lap bars if they do have head bashing issues since it seems painful

There is currently no rumours or confirmed painting of the coaster. As for head bashing and roughness its quite interesting hearing people disagree despite me mentioning the right trains and the right seats get rid of both of these.. i never said each ride was the same. Shame people dont listen in the theme park community.

My favorite restraints on a looping coaster so far has been the vest restraints on Yukon Striker in Canada's Wonderland (basically just bigger oblivion with 4 inversions), super comfortable, little to no airtime, it was an intense ride and I grayed-out my second time riding it, I think The Smiler could definitely benefit from that kind of restraint!

While I think it would be cool, I don’t think The Smiler would ever get lapbars. This isn’t because lapbars can’t be used for coasters with so many inversions (Sik is proof it works), but I feel giving the ride some restraints that the general public class as “unsafe” wouldn’t be a good choice for publicity because of the accident in 2015. While us thoosies know lapbars are safe and The Smiler is safe, the ride will always have that unfortunate accident looming over it which in my opinion would stop the park from giving the ride new restraints. They just wouldn’t want the publicity headache it would bring.

@Coaster_Cray_Cray This video is based on things I believe would improve the ride.. not things I actually think would happen lol hense me not saying that about lap bars. However, I understand your point, and it's something I've thought of myself, but imo that makes it the perfect ride to do it on. The public at the end of the day need educating on the safety of lap bars and with the attention the ride gets from the media if Alton could pull the right marketing (something we know they are good at) it would serve as a great way to educate the public allowing lap bars to be more common and also finally distancing itself from that incident. Imo i think Alton Towers let that incident leave a shadow over them to much and are to scared to innovate / do anything with the smiler because of it which is sad but ultimately if they did and they marketed it right it would have so many benefits. And the public wouldn't stop riding it either. Something hyperia has proven. A large portion of the public hated the idea of lap bars, especially when they found out how long they would be hanging upside down, and yet they still queued for Hyperia all summer long. To summarise, Alton Towers and Merlin need to embrace their past. Its a part of them, and whilst what happened in 2015 was awful, it wasn't on the coaster it was on human error and management errors, which again is human. The smiler has a platform the park could use to do better for the theme park community in the uk

i would love to see alot more theming around the area hopefully as good as forbidden valley or even better and would be great for the smiller to get some fresh paint and some tlc

This is what I think should be improve Fix the marmalizer screen because it's broken Repaint it Bring back the spirals things from the smiler takeover to help the queue be less boring Add games to play in the queue like tic tac toe but theme it to the smiler Replace and put something over the screens in the queueline because they are broken Give it tlc Clean the inside of the station because it's a mess Put some spirals and happy faces painted on the floor because I think it would be cool Clean the trains because when I last went the faces on the trains where broken off and had rust all over the trains I might sound stupid for this but put black paint and make the station look runned down because it's ment to be an abandoned hospital but clean the floor Put some actors around like some doctors Make smiler look more intimidating because it's not giving Put some illusions around X-sector

It's one thing to say you need to ride in certain seats to avoid the roughness, but since the staff give you no choice of seat, that's not really very much use. I for one, never liked The Smiler - I'm not a fan of Eurofighters, and The Smiler just feels like 2 Eurofighters stuck together, not helped by the huge clunky gap in between, as you wait for the second lift.

I try to create a fair opinion throughout my videos, seeing both sides. So I had to include the fact it isn't rough if you get the right seat. For me I love the smiler but do dread its roughness at times.

i 100% agree with you, simler does need a re-paint it does look like it is getting moss around it, and it doesn't look that great, also when i went with you, it was a bit rough

I rode the Smiler earlier this year. Sure the queue line was horrible and the paint was in bad condition, but it wasnt rough at all and was actually one of the smoothest coasters I have ridden. (Im not saying its amazing, especially the lack of theming!) 😪

It really does depend on the seat and the train you get! Which I do mention, as someone who has ridden it for years and regularly trust me it has its rough bits!
