Modern Western Christianity is still highly influenced by the pagan Greek philosophy of Plato - his concept of a solitary, distant "unmoved mover" in the sky is still the common perspective most churchgoers today have of "God." But the Glory of the Gospel is that we have been effortlessly brought into a God of relationality, in whom exists both plurality, together with absolute oneness.
So many Christians give lip service to the Trinity, but do not conceive of how massively important is God's Trinitarian being. WOW.. Ridiculously amazing!! In my 8 years of being a Christian I have never heard anything preached or talked about at my church anything on the Trinity. Nor have I ever heard any Christians talking about it. Im realizing more that I don't think they even know or read their Bible and do their homework. But people sure do talk about doing bible study. I'm an ex-Mormon & born again Biblical Trinitarian Christian of 4 years. Just got done reading "The Forgotten Trinity" by Dr. James White. It took me nearly 2 years to comprehend & understand the doctrinal concept of the Trinity. It finally makes a lot of sense.

I’m in no way denying the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). We read in Matthew 28 about baptizing in the “name” (singular) of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But in Acts, every time someone is being baptized it’s in the “name” of Jesus. Even Peter says in Acts 2:38 “repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” I’m just curious if anyone has something to add, has a revelation on this topic. Is "On the Trinity" by Agustine a good book on the trinity? It's not a trick question. Lol. I have Baxter Kruger's "The Great Dance" that I'm reading but I'm thinking to get Augustine's book. I've heard that Agustine has a background in neo-platonism and that it got into some of his writing.

I think preachers started running from such subjects based upon the lack of in-depth study in the flock. An ignorant flock has resulted in a group of preachers shaving off complex details and scratching itching ears. Budding preachers growing up in these flocks start and stay ignorant, with very few going deep into what God has for us, many pulling out a wrong doctrine based in ignorance and passing it on like a bad cold.

Ryan F Because God has revealed Himself as Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is the biblical, ancient orthodox understanding of how we talk about God.

I know this is complicated:) A person is defined as, a human being regarded as synonyms:human being, individual, man/woman, human, being, living soul, soul, mortal, creature, fellow; More I thought we were created in Gods image body, soul and spirit. The problem is that trinity is an illustration of the unity in plurality eternal relationship of God. Any attempt to make a cosmic anatomy out of an illustration has destroyed both the meaning and the value of the illustration.

Hey John you mentioned the word, "monad." I bet most Crazymatics don't even know what that word means. The Pythagoreans of ancient Greece hatched out that one. What about monism and modalism? They don't know anything about those ideas either. Doctrine and theology is a bad word with many of them.

A few points 1. Plato lived around 427bc but saint Augustine in his confessions book 7 and in city of god book 10 said that he understood the trinity best in Plato’s writings. 2. How do you explain mat 24:36 that only the father knows the day or hour?

2 Jesus says that in Mathew , be cause the bridal return of our Beloved takes place in the molds of a jewish wedding, Eyrusin to Nisuin (engagement to marriage). And in there, the groom is responsible also for the house the couple will live, but even thou the house is done, its the father who gives the green sign to proceed and leave him. So, its Not that he doesnt know, in the contrary, He knew clearly what he was saying, He placed himself indeed in the side of a Groom and Son who awaits His Father's command to go

Do u really believe Jesus is condemning and forbidding us to call real masters and fathers as such , just be cause of that tone? I dont see any difficult in seeing that Jesus , Holy Spirit actually knows the day an hour. A few seconds diggin the proper context, and few revelation in His character and behavior , is necessary to conclude my previous post. Maybe if you tell what is really cracking your mind there will be a better answer. Like, i confess I used to have moments of wavering, and sometimes my mind vagues if the trinity has an hierarchy ( smthing i cant believe for sure , ). Is that sort of thing that is botherin you ?

Ryan Roubert 2 Thank you for responding. First I would like to say is that I believe that the Bible is the word of god and I believe in Jesus Christ. What is cracking my mind is that I’m also a historian and my primary focus is the second century AD. We know that the early Christians were not trinitarian‘s. Quoting that encyclopedia Britannica “Neither the word “Trinity” nor the explicit doctrine appears in the New Testament, nor did Jesus and his followers intend to contradict the Shema in the Hebrew Scriptures: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord” (Deuteronomy 6:4).
