@@salmivec that is not what Article 42 of the 1907 Hague Regulations, actually says, so I am not sure what your quoting. Occupation requires that you can actually exercise control of day to day life in the occupied area. For example control of schools, police and healthcare. Since 2007 day to day control in Gaza has been exercised by Hamas, not Israel. My understanding of gaslighting is making people question reality. That appears to be what you are doing here by claiming international law says something that it does not. The lack of citations when claiming an understanding of law is usually a major red flag.

According to Lord Cameron during a Foreign affairs committee, the Foreign office lawyers ask the Isreali government what there position is. Before deciding the UK government's position. Cameron said it, no news agency has chased him up on it. I wonder therefore if the UK foreign office lawyers contact Hamas, for their position, or more interestingly. Do these lawyers contact Putin about the invasion of Ukraine? Or is Israel now running the UK government?

It is called moral drift due to a major Hamas propaganda campaign. Netanyahu is popular with the people - just not the media in Israel or abroad which has been publicly against him for years prior to 7/10 - he has won freely every election for years (narrowly) but still the majority. Same boat as Johnson and Trump - both hated by the media. Supporting suspension of arms is effectively saying leave Hamas in place. And leaving Hamas in place is for them considered a win. It is simply that moral question. The UK supporting Hamas would be a blemish in UK history. Approximately 50% of the list of lawyer/barristers were Muslim names which is usually a given to be against Israel - that does not represent the majority of lawyers in the UK... this is additional propaganda.

Think time is man-made and based on movement of earth - sunrise, night & sunset in our position towards the sun for light etc. Can’t see time clock working on moon when even our movement & gravitation doesn’t quite work in same way. It may be timeless as per when we’re in deep sleep, we don’t know if it’s been 2 hours or 7 hours. Water same, if you swim / dive deep in sea, difficult to know if it’s been an hour or 4 hours! On Israel, think whatever Starmer says on this becomes v divisive & he’s always said he’ll work with Govt on these issues, so probably keeping low profile. I don’t doubt thou that he’s behind push for Govt to publish their legal advice & also with the 600 judges, KCs, lawyers & academics that wrote to Sunak on Wednesday re possible breach of int law on UK arming Israel. It’s easy to get frustrated with Starmer for not saying more but he is much more considered & balanced & think he would have handled this very differently past few months if he was PM. Obvs USA lead on this but he is a plotter & may have influenced them & Mid East much more on achieving desired outcomes.

This argument is totally one sided. Britain sends over £100M per annum to Haza in aid. We have no idea as to whether this money is diverted into providing weapons/building the terror infrastructure in Gaza that undoubtedly exists. We know that 8 British citizens were slaughtered by Hamas on 7th October. We know that the leaders of Hamas have become billionaires by misappropriating the funds meant for aid to Gaza to their personal bank accounts. Britain is therefore by the logic that Lewis etc advance clearly supporting Hamas. So if Britain is going to suspend arm sales to Israel on the basis advanced should it not suspend sending the hundreds of millions that it does to Gaza unless there is better scrutiny and accountability?
