Animation is taking still drawings or renders and making so many of them that they have the illusion of movement when played at a high speed, there's very little animation going on with mocap, so IMO it's a live action performance, just instead of a costume, the performer's action is later cleaned up and made proportionately accurate. Unless you're a JRPG not by the name of Final Fantasy or Xenoblade

Tbf Fortnite was rated T on its initial release, meaning their Battle Royale mode was also rated T. This also explains a middle finger emote they had in the shop at one time. Actually, the game was intended to be for Teens and Adults, but since the game’s art style looked less realistic than other games, 8 Year Olds had a chance to play a shooter game. That’s why Fortnite suffered the horrible fate of being child infested. Now, because so many kids play now, people call it a kid’s game.
