More of these song based lessons please rotem, if this had the correct sheet up it might be one of the best jazz lessons on the Internet. Really helps us understand the way you break them down in depth, understanding this is what is needed

"You are the promised kiss of springtime That makes the lonely winter seem long You are the breathless hush of evening That trembles on the brink of a lovely song You are the angel glow that lights a star The dearest things I know are what you are Someday my happy arms will hold you And someday I'll know that moment divine When all the things you are are mine" 🎙🎶🎵🎼🎸🎹

Love the Video! You are so good in explaining Guitar to me :) From 12.05 I am hearing and learning "All the Thing you are", but i am looking at the Notes of Autumn leaves... Multitasking :) Could you fix that? Thnax Rotem Love from Gemany!

Thank you. I know this song well and play it often. This was probably one of the best explanations of how the song is structured. This will help me have a better grasp on what I'm actually playing. You are a great teacher.

I have been playing "All the things you are" (or trying to play) for the last 40 years or so and I must say THIS is the best and most thorough analysis I have found on YT. Kudos, Rotem 👍 Btw: you make this Fender Duo Sonic sound like a million $$$!

Yeah I'll second this, this has helped me understand a lot of things about how to approach a chart like this. I've always found them confusing!

Hey Rotem, hope u doing great! I would love to see a video of yours analyzing not a head but a solo, maybe not an entire solo but at least a segment. I would also love to see a video about how to internalize what you transcribe. 🎉

15:34 you're talking about all the things you are but Autumn Leaves lead sheet is still up. Took me a while to notice 😂 love your videos and your playing! Big inspiration!

I love this song ! Wrote a five part a cappella Arrangement of it a few years for my choir . Now I try to improvise over the chord progression with the guitar - quite difficult but a wonderful never ending story ...😅 great breakdown !!

Thanks man! Would love to hear your a cappella take!

Do Autumn Leaves since you highlighted the melody intervallic similarities.

The Dbmaj7 chord (bar five), besides certainly being the IV degree of Ab, could perhaps be understood as a sort of "anticipation" or "preliminary extension" of the G7 chord? In fact, Db(7) is a classic tritone substitution for G7. With Dbmaj7, we would have a sort of G7 altered with the augmented fifth, seventh, flat ninth, and eleventh (without the tonic, of course). At this point, it would be interesting to play in Cmaj already over the Dbmaj7 to create more 'outside' tension. What's your take on this?
@RotemSivanGuitar4 ай бұрын
Oh yea! The Db is the bII of C. Many chords have dual meaning. In harmonic analysis we call some of those hinge chords

Rotem, did you intend for the Autumn Leaves page to remain up at 17:45 for a long time when you were playing ATTYA?

You're showing Autumn Leaves music when you're discussing All the things at around 13.30. Pretty sure that's a mistake and not me misunderstanding.. Great vid though.
