I still don't understand how Erik only has 67k subs... This is the highest quality golf channel on KZbin, with amazing edits, courses, and guests every episode. Everyone that likes golf should be subscribed!
@teriley1235 жыл бұрын
I think its because they suck at filming golf or just dont care to do it well. They never talk about shots or what they are doing and you never see quality golf footage because they don't try to film golf. I wish I could like this channel more. I really wish I could. I must have watched 100 EAL videos and I have no idea what he is good at or bad at in his golf game. I think thats where he struggles to find a consistent audience in the golf community. I dont think he has found the balance of being hipster artsy( which is cool) and actually trying to diligently show golf shots. Thats why I don't subscribe anyway. But the Scotland series was really amazing. And I do enjoy the occasional video he does.
@skylersilbey85655 жыл бұрын
@@teriley123 Yeah it's true the actual raw GOLF aspect is a bit lacking, but I don't think that is really what Erik cares about. For him and his videos it's more about the culture and differences in golf around the world. It's more about golf culture than it is watching Erik play 18 holes.
@teriley1235 жыл бұрын
@@skylersilbey8565 Yeah I know what what the point of what he is doing is. The last video I watched before this one was The Renaissance Club video where he was whining a lot about doing a "Course vlog" type video. I didn't care for all the whining and I didn't care for this video at all. I mean how times are they gonna just keep filming Erik take a shot and then keep the camera dead on Erik as he reacts to a shot?? They must have done it 4 times in the space of 12 minutes. I watch vlogs all the time where they get shots of both the guy taking the shot and a broader shot of the direction and outcome of the shot. They could make an effort to film the golf better and also talk about burning trash and the girl "fitting in in Japan while also maintaining her sense of self" as well. Both things are do able.

Just Joshinnn45 guessing it will come out sooner or later. I recall EAL saying these vids don’t get edited and published for up to a month or two sometimes. Guessing they’ll make a big deal out of it, since it is the first ACE on the series

Your videos mean a lot to me. It was the first time I came to see golf as more than a sport. You helped me see that golf is the setting for the drama of life. It’s redemption. It’s heartbreak. It’s fellowship. Thank you for forever changing my relationship with golf and perspective on the game. I’ve now started a KZbin channel of my own, and have to constantly remember that golf is a bottomless ocean, a mountain with no summit. The beauty is in the dive and the climb. Cheers EAL

Erik, golf aside you and the team are just producing the best content out. Unique, intelligent and importantly, fun with both epic shots and honest dialogue (still trying to work out how you do all of this in a round). It's all about narrative and this perfectly captures the idiosyncratic nature of golf and the japanese culture, or wherever you travel for that matter. Just an overdue appreciation post. Vibes from Australia!

Great episode again, I love watching women's golf and what was said here is something I already knew, the men can hit further, big whoop, they also hit more crooked. I have probably watched more professional womens golf in 2024 than the rest of my life before that. Its so much more clinical, hardly any shots in the rough, everything in the fairway. I have watched videos of women pros playing from the same tees as men and it evens out because their shots go where they are supposed to, almost every damn time! The female form on a swing tho, it is incredible to watch, the form and the lines on the back swing and follow through, it is like Golf was made for women! I am not kidding, its incredible, I am still an amateur but when I want to study shots I will watch women do the same shot and how they approach each shot. It would be a dream for me to go to Japan, if you go again, you should learn about Ueshiba Morehei, he is legendary for many things, but he is the founder of Aikido, he was a master and a leader, a philosopher and many decades ahead of his time. I would love to visit the original Dojo which I think his grandson is master.

Aaaand we end with a shot of Erik hanging his head in shame on a bench outside the bathrooms after making a 7, asking himself why we play this beyond frustrating game that we just cannot help but love more than life itself. Just a cool duder wanting to have played somewhat approximating his best, yet not so frustrated he didn't accomplish this that he's thinking of doing harakiri in Aokigahara. Lol I was there yesterday my fellow Erik, except I was playing all by my lonesome at my lackluster public home course in my home country, as per the usual. Takeaway: The grass is always greener. Except when you're in Japan, where it's yellow.

There are lots of reasons why masks are popular in asian countries. It can be anything from pollution, to allergies, germs, habit, fashion, or any mix of those and more. Just something that started about 100 years ago and ended up becoming a norm for a lot of people.
