My light bulb moment came one month after he discarded me. I had gone full no contact the entire time. Since I make friends easily, I found a new (and sober) social scene. He must have sensed I was feeling better and sent me a text that read "Long time no see, hope you're well." As I read it, I saw it as a basic temperament check and felt certain that he does NOT hope I'm well. I had finally figured it out! At that moment, I knew 100% that I WAS well and healing. Needless to say, I ignored the hoover. 😊

It's so creepy how they know when to do a heat-check hoover. After financially abusing me for decades, I finally cut my malignant narcissistic relative off. My husband and I had just started becoming financially stable again, and so I made a donation to a local food bank. That same day, after MONTHS of nothing, my mother tried to hoover me through my father's sister -- whom she has hated all my life. It was the only person I haven't blocked yet. How did she even KNOW????? It's creepy as heck. She didn't hoover on my kids' birthdays. She didn't hoover on Thanksgiving. She only hoovered when I gave MONEY TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN HER. It's creepy as heck.

Same. 18 years with what I would describe as a malignant narcissist with many psychopathic traits. I asked my then husband to go to couples therapy and he refused so I went to therapy on my own. When I got help and was validated was when I realised. My lightbulb moment. I started reading about narcissism and psychopathy, and listening to videos on KZbin. This was 10+ years ago. I basically stopped listening to videos and studying personality disorders years ago but when I stumbled on Andrew's channel I started listening and I find that I still benefit from being in contact with others who've experienced the same. Nobody else will ever understand. So now I'm here every day.

I realised nobody was going to save me from my Narcassist. I had to do it myself. It took all my strength to leave him on that day. It was the 4th of July which was the day my husband had died 3 half years ago and Independence Day. It was the best thing I could have done. I thought I was going to be spending the rest of my life with him. I’ve never been so sad but I had to do it. It sounds like a tragic film but it’s real.

Be proud of yourself for working through all of the challenges. Always remember that you come first in your future. The sadness does lift, and we find that we have changed. It takes time to learn to recognize our new self. It is amazing at how heavy sadness can feel. I used to time the parts of the day when I felt grief. I found that it needed to be felt, but was also not good for my health. I learned to limit it to twenty minutes...for real. Whatever it takes to heal. Again, be proud of yourself.

I am so happy that the nightmare ended in 2005. Years of hoovering. I didn't get the education until 2022. I had no idea what any of this was. I am so glad that during his hoovered I didn't go back to him. Being by myself is so peaceful. Thank you so much for this kind education. He fell asleep in death in 2023. I remember at Christmas time my x could decorate the house like you couldn’t believe! The hot chocolate stuff on little tables and lots of little hand foods decorated impeccable! It would look like Santa’s team of 50 elf’s cooked a Christmas banquet I was in awe of how amazing she could turn the house into a white Christmas Santa himself would be in awe of! Now I get it though. (Everything is a production a show, and they are masters at the show) That’s why a relationship with a narcissist is so devastating their whole lives are about a fantasy and selling the fantasy. They are like cocaine or crack or something. If you don’t get away you will eventually find yourself in a homeless shack in a corner of the room hoping for another hit off the narc pipe .

that’s it, I thought crazy people were put into a Psych Center thus is why I never expected there were any crazy people in my Neighborhood when I was a kid. Just happened so, the older crazy person who lived across the street that I married at 18 tried to drive me crazy for years and make me believe it was me, he lied, had many other sources of supply, etc. My jewelry was missing, my favorite items or items co-workers gave to me missing too. Per him I was to go to work, be home directly after work, take care of everything including. his business books, our kids, cook a full meal oh & I couldn’t have Friends). I had no idea there were crazy people walking around (e.g. my NarcHusband) called Narcissists. He passed away 5 mos ago tomorrow Christmas Day. (we were married 54 yrs). If you are not free from the Narc in your lives I pray you have a plan and get away from them asap and begin healing. Stay safe and strong!! Know you are stronger than you think! ❤🌲

Saying NO, is by far, one of the most powerful acts anyone will do for their own well-being. When you say NO, be prepared as you're overcoming and breaking free from the lifetime of brainwash. You will disappoint others and will learn " it is what it is". And come to a point where you feel like you just don't care. What that really reflects is that you are caring for yourself FIRST...no need for guilt or sorrow. You really can't please all the people all the time!😂🎉
