Hi, With the mak 180-2700 what guide do you use (scope and camera)? Is there a big difference between AM5 and AM5N in practice in terms of tracking accuracy? Thank you
@SKYST0RYАй бұрын
Is the AM5N still having the meridian flip difficulty the previous model had?
@Raghav-thissideАй бұрын
Sir I have a question that do you study about the space for all these information that you share while capturing the space? I mean would it possible for me to also look the planets whichever I want by purchasing a telescope? I don't know anything about the space and the positions of planets,stars and galaxies 😅

Can you use the AM5N unguided with a C8 SCT, f/6.3 Reducer, ASI294MC Pro camera and an ASIAIR Plus? Was looking at it for Live Stacking in Live Mode for unguided EAA.

Im sticking with my good old mount. It works perfectly and will last the rest of my life. I see no benefit other than more money in their pocket.
@TevisCАй бұрын
As long as you're not taking it down every session. I don't see the advantage either. I got an AM5 because I have to disassemble my rig after every night. Super light, especially when using my 80mm refractor. Leave the counterweight bar on and carry it with one hand.
@kevinedw2002Ай бұрын
@@TevisCSame here. I moved from a HEQ5 PRO to a UMI17R harmonic mount, and haven't looked back since. So much lighter, guides better, and has a higher weight capacity for imaging
@KevinRudd-w8sАй бұрын
I have my EQ6-R Pro permanently set up outside and have no intention of replacing it because it works perfectly well. However I have also bought a Wave 100i SWG mount for its portability. It is a fantastic mount and I would always recommend that people just starting out should go with an SWG mount if they can afford it, they are just easier to move around, set up and use. But if they are in a position to permanently install the mount outside or they don't mind the extra weight involved there is nothing wrong with traditional GEM mounts which are generally a good bit cheaper. As for ZWO, I use and like their gear but they have a bad name for after sales service when things go wrong, luckily I have not had any issues. I agree with you though, if your mount is working and doing what you want it to, there is no point in replacing it just for the sake of it.
@paulwood6729Ай бұрын
Another really interesting video. Have you ever had the chance to compare the new harmonic mounts against the established players, eg Skywatcher/ZWO vs the likes of Rainbow Astro? Do you think the RA RST-135 would be worth the premium?

@KevinRudd-w8sАй бұрын
I wish someone would do a comparison between the various SWG mounts. i think most people realise that they are a lot more portable etc than GEMs by now, but how do they stack up against each other. Most manufacturers are now supplying SWG mounts but apart from price are there any significant differences between them?

Shame that based on the title there is no real conclusion. I guess I have to conclude myself that it's lighter and slightly cheaper than a CGX. But what about tracking accuracy etc.?

"The AM5 was one of the most popular mounts in the world" Really? A mount that costs north of UK£1600? Might depend on what you mean by most popular, but under the definition of "best selling" I very much doubt it.
