I also want to have nice 3d modeling for MATLAB among other rendering applications. plus, I also like the AI applications the samsung galaxy s25 ultra will have. i would love having a device always on the go that can operate like a pc.

Existing smartphone chips are more than capable for the vast majority but nevertheless a big bump in performance is a factor in upgrade timing as it should just last that much further into the future. The battery on my S20 is starting to go and the improvements basically mean a 3X jump in single and multicore. I could see an S25 lasting me 7 years with one battery swap in the middle.

I have the 16 Pro Max and I can’t imagine using anything else. The 18 Pro chip is so powerful with amazing battery life. The only other phone I would even think of buying is the OnePlus 13 Pro because it packs more power and specs in America that would make it last years. Best investment after an iPhone and or pixel

Well, they still try to get back as many money as they can before the court even start the case/made the desicions. (They already spendt a few million on creating the chips and paying the engineers for at least 3 years before the Oryon core released, and the X Elite not even selling well.. they already started to discount the laptops after 3 weeks.. and they still paying for KZbinrs to promite their laptops.. alias the initial launch was a fail, even on the discounted price it still a fail, they still need to convience the users to "please buy our product" with the still runnig promotions.. so they hope that the phone side will bring back the money, because the laptop side wasn't really a success, and they already spent their money on it for at least 3 years)

Same.. but we've got to upgrade at some point, right? Will the SD 8 Elite last and feel as fast for as long as the OG Tensor? I'd say more than.
@Kirito150
@Kirito150 2 ай бұрын
@@pspr33 I don't think so I mean you can't get the same seamless experience because QLQQM doesn't share everything with for example "Samsung" or "Xiaomi" unlike Google whom they have control over the HW and the android platform so even if the 8 elite is WAY stronger in RAW performance you won't get the 1to1 experience that we have now using the OG tensor
@pspr33
@pspr33 2 ай бұрын
@@Kirito150 even with that, I still think a SD 8 Elite is not only leaps and bounds faster in raw performance but I think the longevity will be just as good, especially now that most OEMs are allowing people to have upgrades for 5+ years. I used to swap my phone every year but I haven't since the Pixel 6 Pro. I think that is a testament to phones being so iterative these days. There's been nothing really new that has made me want a new phone. Unfortunately, my phone has developed a 'bleed' around the front camera (no idea how it happened) so it's only a matter of time before it needs a new screen.. but I probably won't replace the screen, I'll just upgrade and for now, having seen where Google will be in the next 2 years (still behind even the SD 8 Gen 3), I can't see a Pixel in my pocket again for the foreseeable.
@Kirito150
@Kirito150 2 ай бұрын
@@pspr33 I agree with your point the 8 elite will be a good investment now that OEM'S do give people at least 5+ years of support and yeah the G4 isn't a powerhouse by any means but you can't deny that the experience in Google phones are something that you rarely see. I have swapped phones for so many time and I used every chip manufacture "Samsung own "exynos" qualquomm mediateck and even krirn" and tbh the importance here isn't of how strong or advanced the chip looks like if you have less people in the process of making something it is going to be less broken in the process...

Sounds great - but many reviewers say the Window's version of Oryon runs hot (again might be the thermal management the OEMs choose to use and the voltage management), something that Apple is only just getting over with the iPhone 16. As to the AI.... well it would be great if there were some more convincing use cases and decent (3rd party) software to take advantage of it. (now there are 2 comments!)

It will also overheat like the laptops (what can't even release in a fanless design like Macbook Air..), even if it's 3nm compared to the 4nm X Elite, the clock speed is higher like the X1E-84-100 variant.. (Geekerwan already tested the chip, and consuming almost 17W to reach the benchmarked 10000 multiscore meanwhile games only use 7-8W at max because of overheating..) So it's the same, looks good on benchmarks, but manufacturers will be disappointed because of the halved performance when they try to use it in a fanless design (what the laptop side with the same chip can't even provided at the end, because of the disappointing performance without cooler..)
@MangoPickleGaming

@@TamasKiss-yk4st Even in his video, if you could read a graph, you would see efficiency better than A18pro all the way till 12W. Obviously, this chip is designed to be sold to multiple OEMs and Qualcomm themselves won't limit the power usage from their end, hence it is benchmarked even for higher power consumptions.

who cares? Mobile does not need more performance, they need reduced power for same performance. Nobody cares if opening up their apps takes 0.02 seconds less time. They care if their phone lasts longer without without need to charge up (and use up another charge cycle on battery which is what causes battery degredation).

People will say Qualcomm will just settle if they lose versus ARM, but that is a problem for Qualcomm, as the Snapdragon X has probably lost them a lot of money, and with low sales, adding more unit cost to the equation puts its viability in question as X86 still looks like it will rule. Even though this chip (SD8G4) uses less ARM IP, it is the fruit of the poisonous tree, so any gains by Oryon can be argued as benefits from unpaid ARM patents.
