If you push the 8 Elite to 100% all the time, then it will be hot. (Like the 3D mark test) But, there are very few apps/games (except for the the benchmark) needs that much of power. Even Genshin Impact doesn't use 100% CPU & GPU all the time. So, in day to day usage, there will not be a very big problem… 🙄

nice tests, but I have a suggestion that you consider adding emulation, e.g. Gamecube. Unlike games like Genshin, what counts there is pure processor power and the ceiling is still high because you can render the game in 4k and higher. In addition, there are various topics, such as the really poor openGL support in exynos

Yeah and it would allow you to unlock framerates and upscaling as Rafa said. So through upscaling, unlock framerates, testing OpenGL and Vulkan in some very demanding games could give some performance view which you wouldn't get otherwise. Winlator which emulates windows games on android could also be interesting for a demanding test. Otherwise for android games no idea which allows you to unlock framerate and is graphically demanding.

Realme and Xiaomi have been "fixing" benchmarks for marketing purposes by allowing their phones to operate at unoptimized rates. Therefore, these inflated scores should be viewed in context as unrealistic. However, only a few of us will actually use these benchmarks, and most apps will not be as demanding. From this, we learn that we shouldn't rely solely on benchmarks; instead, as this video demonstrates, we should focus on real-world usage. In that context, it becomes clear that the Snapdragon 8 Elite represents a significant improvement over the 4nm architecture. As a result, we can expect better battery life overall, lower temperatures for similar tasks, and enhanced performance when needed. So, although the S25U will keep 5000mAh batteries, we should see a healthy SOT improvement, and Samsung can save the adoption of a larger battery until the S26U, which will be a minor upgrade to the Snapdragon efficiency. Sensible business.

The new Elite was so good for power consumption that they didn't implement efficiency core and that's the problem, the 15 min gaming is not enough to to keep increasing the heat, the new elite will not stop powering the phone even if the chip is to hot, the phone it self will shout down him self, unlike the Gen 3 have efficiency core that usually work around 40 degree to cool down the phone, the Elite marketing idea basically it's to good that no need to use efficiency core, the daily use and task is good but for the long hours gaming will suffer

another thing is real world issues like hot weather which all this test never consider. i have the S23 ultra & the snapdragon 8 gen 2 was efficient & cool under all kind of test ( reviews) but when under real world usage example like in thailand where daily temperature can go as high as 38 to 40 celsius (real ground temperature) my S23 ultra heats so easily & it get really hot i mean HOT that i have shut it down immediately ( many times it got hot) & i don't use it when there no cooler temperature like air-conditioning nowadays. no matter what kind of test phone manufacturers do i highly doubt any of them do real world usages with ground temperature as high as 38 to 42 celsius. with regards to heat high-end processor nowadays is as powerful as a desktop processor but yet cooling systems are lacking especially samsung phones which they only put in the minimal unlike the chinese manufacturers are coming up eith innovative solutions. high-end phones with powerful processor needs to be treated as a gaming pc rather than just a normal pc

Both chipsets could run very hot, its just that some manufacturers tend to have extremely aggresive parameters to the governor of the SoC when their devices run benchmarks, ending with scenarios like this where the phone stops the app from running after reaching unresonable temperatures. With further improvments of the governor in this regard, maybe we can see the full potential of this chipset. While for now, its perfectelety noticeable that in real-life scenarios the 8 Elite is 30% more efficient than its predecesor, and also 40% more powerful.

I think this is all because of silicon lottery, i noticed that the binning process for phone chips arn't as strict as X86-64 chips, sometimes you buy a phone and find out that you are getting 10 to 20% less perf compared to the same phone with the same chip in reviews, basically companies are giving up the best chips to the reviewers as for the comercial ones, it depends on luck, there is also envirement facts like the envirenment temperture, but the silicon lottery plays a way more role.

More power efficient does not mean that processor consumes less energy because efficiency is just the ratio of energy spent and work done. Manufacturers can claim that their cpu are more efficient while also increasing the wattage. For a better example is the thing with nvidia gpus where the increase in efficiency doesn't decrease power consumption because they also keep increasing the power consumption. So conclusion you can't say that a cpu is less efficient or more efficient by just measuring energy consumed or heat produced because that is misleading. Just say that the cpu or the phone itself has poor thermal management.

The pictures and long (30min+) session reviews speaks for themselves. As soon as you will need 50%+ sustained load, you will have a hot mess. Why even buy a product if you can't use 50% of it after 30 minutes? Might just buy a mid range chipset for much less. The damage control is real, a true successor to SD 8 gen 1.

Can you also show your room temperature? I have two rooms in my house. One is hot and the other is cold. In my hot room the phone gets hot super fast. So I want to know the room temperature you are in

Ok so the xaiomi does no throttle inorder to keep up with that awesome performance, so if we were to actually play games or emulate something that would push the 8 elite really hard, it would be wise to use a coolers. Although i can't see any mobile game that would push this chip to the extreme

I emulate nitendo switch games on my samsung s20 with snapdragon Without cooler it can heat up to 52 degrees after like 1 hour 30 mins of gaming.

Hmm so, it's not a flawed chip but the thermal management in the phones that it has appeared in so far have just been poor? Interesting. The performance gains are legit though.

I think it's all about the optimization. I have high hopes that Samsung will deal with that way better than xiaomi etc. If not, 8 gen 2 and 3 are still very good for a couple of years. Excluding shjiti crappy exynos of course. Thank you for the earlier experimenting/testing! And sharing! 🙏

Benchmarks arent reflective of real life usage. Benchmarks have always been done in the pretense of testing a device to its maximum capacity which isnt what you are doing 24/7. Calm down people
