I just switched my tires from winter air to summer air and then it snowed again yesterday so I had to switch back to winter air so I could get to the store. Talk about a bummer. My dad told me when I was a kid to always when driving an automatic shift to P (power) when going over 85 for a more stable ride. This works especially well with summer air. To this day I swear by it.

I use combination gas. You can use it in winter as well as summer. But it only lasts 2 years unfortunately instead of the summer and winter air you can reuse 5 years if it's good quality

Don’t forget to change your stereo oil every 10k miles as well, gotta keep those subs kicking. Also, taking a tire rubber sample from the sidewall with a drill and drinking straw to remove it from the tire. Edit: forgot to mention that the tire sample needs to be taken to a local shop to be inspected/evaluated.

Matthew B. You can, but it’s typically not as accurate as the test they do in the shop. Just don’t let them up charger you for the dihydrogen monoxide saturation test, it’s a total scam and only really needs to be done if the tire is more than 5 years old.

Nether in my spot... I changed my tire for winter, they torqued it over 200 feet pound !! My girlfriend was stuck on the road with a flat. I ask them if they could torque it, they said that they didn't had a torque wrench... Just watch chrisfix and be far has you can from mechanics !

Thanks Chris, because of the warmer and lighter summer air, There is less wear on my tires and there is less effort needed to turn the wheels, which means that there is less strain on my engine so my piston return springs are gonna last way longer this season.❤🙏

Helium or Hydrogen in a car's tires will cause a difference in apparent weight of less than 1%. Definitely not enough to reach escape velocity.

Here in the UK, we have to use Autumn Air because of all the rain. This is not to be confused with night time and day time air of course.

@@chrisfix Oh yes, and of course UK air is different to US air, you must of been using air made in the USA? Of course you should never mix different air in opposing tires. UK air in one tire and US in another, it throws off the handling.

Yeah, that engineer explained it pretty well, I learned it in physics in school, that's why I always change all the air on my tyres completely every 6 months. Good thing Chris went over it in the video. Please share to let other people know, it would really increase their tyre life

Not joking, you should should check your tire pressures when the seasons change. It can fluctuate a bit due to temperature change. Engineering explained wasn't 100% joking when he mentioned the ideal gas law haha.

Doesnt hurt to check your air pressure and make sure the air is good. Be sure to check the spare too!

Just recently realized I have been fooled for 2 years. Ever since I watched this video when it first came out, I have been instructing my friends about this and bringing their cars including mine to deflate the cold air from the past winter and to fill up some warmer air on a hot day in the summer. Really felt that weight savings and relatively some extra horsepower right after every time I changed them out lol.

Thanks for the information! I filled my blinkers with brand new synthetic blinker fluid in my 1993 civic and it works great! The piston return springs also helped reduce vibrations, the muffler bearings also made the exhaust sound better! The new summer air helped with handling too.

Dunkaccino25 Im in ap chem and so ik what and ideal gas is... and his explanaition seemed a bit logical especially since gases are closest to ideal at higher temps but also lower pressure... so like if this video was serious I would be questioning the ideal gas of the summer tires cause that means they need to be at lower pressure therefore having an underinflated tire especially since, I beleive, no gas is ideal.... because its ideal not necesarily like real. (also Im sorry if you dont care about what I just said)

So I have essentially no car maintenance experience, but I did take four years of chemistry in college, and around the point Engineering Explained said that based on his 75 years of experience that Summer air was an ideal gas but Winter air wasn't, I was like, "would that make any difference in compressibility?" Whenever someone is encouraging me to go to a mechanic or auto supply store and ask for something I've never heard of before, I am suspicious lol. Kind of incredible the amount of time you must have put into those labels.

But have you checked the piston return springs? Winter air causes stress on the joints with the crankshaft of the turbo struts and they could bend. Be sure to check that
