They’re not killer bees. African honeybees aren’t too crazy. So-called ‘Africanised honeybees’ are a hybrid of European and African varieties that are more psychotic than either of the original varieties. Could just as well have called them ‘Europeanised honeybees’ except that to the Brazilians who hybridised them, Europe was seen as less exotic.
@Aliasx20052 күн бұрын
@ You realize it’s pointless to “correct” that? “killer bee” is a nickname for them due to that more aggressive behavior compared to other bee species. You also said they aren’t “too crazy”, then you proceeded to say they’re more “psychotic”. I don’t think that word should be used, and you also contradicted yourself immediately, especially while describing an insect that lacks self awareness. More aggressive nature = name sake of killer bee, the same as a grizzly bear being named grizzly because that’s an adjective used to describe something that is fearsome, gruesome, or horrifying. Please stop trying to correct people over pointless things, it makes you come off as pretentious.
@chequereturnedКүн бұрын
@@Aliasx2005 I think you missed my point. *Even as a nickname*, ‘killer bee’ has never referred to actual African honeybees, but a recent and specific African-European honeybee hybrid in the Americas. No one calls actual African honeybees ‘killer bees’ except the occasional American who completely misunderstands the whole story and panics when they visit Africa and see a bee. So yeah, it’s fair to correct it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africanized_bee

Honey badgers are the Pit Bulls of the wild. They are durable and courageous creatures that go up against creatures way larger than themselves. Honey badgers are masters of deterrence and are one of the few creatures in the wild that possess the closest thing to what's referred to as gameness. Gameness is basically the determination to not give up even when faced with danger or a very challenging situation. It is a quality mostly found in and associated with catch and fighting dogs such as Pit Bulls that have been selectively bred for very dangerous and challenging tasks such as controlling bulls in bullfighting matches, holding down wild pigs for hunting, and fighting each other in dogfighting matches that can last longer than some movies. Honey badgers are not exactly game, but they are the closest of any wild animal.
