This is a masterpiece and was made for kids. Why it failed simple because it's release got postponed and was released during non vacation time It would have worked if it would have been a summer or a winter released. That's why it failed otherwise it's a great preteen to teenage watch. Making it over complicated would have made it more for matured audience which was not the target audience.

I disagree with 14:43 - 16:04 Katrina's bad luck being the reason for finding bagchi is a better choice than jagga using ONLY his detective chops to find him. Why because him being a detective is already established in the first half. Him relying on bad luck is somewhat opposite of his element. which is a good thing, because you want the protagonist to be in unfamiliar waters or rely on unfamiliar ways to progress. And despite the name of the film, it's not actually a detective film. The environment focus is closer to a happy go lucky story like a combination of Doctor who and Barfi. So the shenanigans with Katrina and her connection with Bagchi keep the story engaging. Solution? Jagga uses katrina's badluck + his detective power. pretty much weaponises her bad luck with his sleuth skills. It could be something he disagrees with in the first half cus he doesn't believe in co incidences when mystery is involved. but his opinion changes when he Katrina. and it amplifies when they start getting closer to bagchi with those hotel search scenes.

Same with me. The dialogues delivered in a musical style were a new concept and i enjoyed it but still i dont know why the film bored me. It seems dragged after a time. They should have chopped some part of it. Also some people didnt connect with the movie due to continously dialgues being delivered in musical tone. They didnt connected with that part ,i think so. It seemed like a fantasy to people.

My impressions: Well... It's not the kind of movie I usually see (musical + adventure). To me, it's clearly a Disney-style movie. 😊 I would just shorten some narratives in the first part of the film (mainly Katrina's scenes at the circus with the kids). I think the film takes a little while to get us into the story, and it becomes more fluid from the middle to the end. But, I really like this movie and especially Pritam's soundtrack. 🧡I'm sorry it doesn't have continuity.
