I’ve never understood or liked when people would root for a specific player instead of a team. Like yeah casually rooting for someone because they have/had a connection to your squad is okay I guess. But I’ve heard over my 30+ years of watching football many times like oh I don’t have a team I’m a Randy Moss fan or a Brett Favre fan, that never made sense to me, this is a team sport after all. But man when I tell you that despite my die hard and lifelong Raiders fandom that I’m a fan of Jamaal, I mean it. This dude is relatable and loveable in the way that I have never seen from another player. Excited to follow this man’s career.
@rileykopinski6026 Жыл бұрын
Most times it’s a team you cheer for but In every sport there is normally a specific person people root for that comes along. Micheal Jordan in basketball, Wayne Gretzky in hockey, Derek jeter in baseball although he has done things to lose that love, Messi or Ronaldo in soccer, mario andretti in racing. And currently Jamal in football. It’s not abnormal to have people be drawn to someone specific due to such immense skill or personality.
@whyhasgooglemessedwithmych1423 Жыл бұрын
Yeah there are a few other people that have that rare effect. Tom Brady for me. Wherever he goes im rooting for that team (except now im hoping he retires), the other person was Barry Sanders, where people would literally just root for him.

@@abouttime2569 You make a valid point, but it’s not really that easy imho. For me personally, growing up black was kind of like having Superman as your only role model. Like, you want to fly and be super strong, but you also understand that you’re never gonna be able to absorb solar energy like him. So you grow wanting to be *not yourself* instead of wanting to mold yourself into your role models. Obviously, real people can absolutely achieve the success of their real-life role models with a little luck and a lot of work, but I wasn’t able to fully understand that until I was old enough to stop caring about the figurative box I felt I was placed in by my environment (not my parents, everyone and everything else)
