It’s pretty egregious how the league allowed this sort of behaviour for so long. These fines and short suspensions are just slaps on the wrists to guys like this. I’m a track and field athlete, where if people get suspended for things (like doping violations), they miss something in the realm of 4 years. That’s a real deterrent, and those doping violations aren’t putting someone’s entire life at risk like Burfict’s play was. I think by the time he’s getting his third fine, players like this should be under review to be suspended for an entire season. After that, 2-4 years, and after that, permanent bans. Even then, he still has less to lose than the guys he’s taking shots at.

The hits in the last drive of that playoff game against Pittsburgh were all 100% clean. Their season was ruined by the comprised referees. The NFL screwed Burfect who was suspended for 12 games while the pervert QB in Cleveland is allowed to sexually assault over 50 women, Robert KRAFT can go and exploit an illegal immigrant forced to work at a rub and tug and he gets no punishment, and the wife beating knock out artist ray rice would’ve been able to come back to the nfl if the ravens needed him but since he was getting old and slow they let him go, then there’s too many scumbag players & coaches to mention who did things so much worse than VB who was forced out the nfl bc the close relationships between Pittsburgh owner and nfl commissioner. Vontez belongs in the hall of fame and his poor “victim” AB belongs in prison for his hobbies of beating the mother of his children in front of them but that turd looking piece of 💩was extended for millions by the raiders who he screwed over bc he couldn’t wear his old helmet bc of nfl standards so he literally burnt up about 30 million dollars by voiding his contract but I digress VB deserved an award for knocking the snot out of wife beating AB.

Not quite, looking at all his contracts he made about 55 million in the NFL. Lost 5.5 million in fines/missed games, leaving him with nearly 50 million dollars. That being said, his net worth is only estimated at 12 million, he likely spent a lot of his money during his years playing because he thought that the gravy train would keep rolling. If he's responsible he'll be ok with that money but at least he isn't living Peyton Manning's life, he could've been but he was too scummy to play respectfully.
@lafoonxiii53112 жыл бұрын
@@abigbutterstick1780 actually, his contracts were for that amount, but actual career earnings was ~$33 million, due to his final contract with the Bengals being cut short, earnings forfeitures, etc. Still, made way way more than he paid in fines. Which is a damn shame.

We both loved and hated him in Tempe, as he was so often both the most advantageous and detrimental player on the field for the Sun Devils. Incredible play followed right up with a dangerous and out of control one. We always had to hold our collective breath anytime an opposing player went out of bounds because there was a chance he would come out of nowhere and clean someone out. I actually met him one time while I was shooting a documentary on ASU, and he was, by far, the most intimidating of any of the players we had talked to. Really a great talent which was most apparent when seeing him play in person. Yet there were times I thought he might paralyze an opposing player or worse. Scary dude.

@3:09 "...Vontaze was dominant enough to overlook his dirty play." A poorly constructed sentence. But we get it. VB was great, the league is set up for offense. If the league was set up for defense, we would glorify VB. Ask yourself this question! What is the ultimate goal of employing a high ranking defensive unit? Answer: The goal is to keep the opposing team from entering your goal, and that means at all costs. VB was the epitome of that goal. If that means striking fear into your opponent then that’s what it takes. We have to ask ourselves are we watching a gladiator match or a seven on seven flag football match. If we choose the later then we are to glorify VB at his height, but if it is the former, then we should remove the offensive and defensive line and run a seven on seven tournament. The league is offensive driven and the promotion of the league is to have the score be 66-65 every game. It’s what draws more fans and more revenue. VB played the game the right way, our generation just happened to be headed in the opposite direction during his era. You can’t blame him for not conforming. Allow all players to be the beautiful players they can possibly be, and we might have more gifts presented to us on the grid iron. Don’t forget that it is a grid iron and not a soccer pitch.
