The Philadelphia 76ers traded Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond for James Harden over a week ago, and Harden just made his 76er debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves last night scoring 27 points with 12 assists. Joel Embiid also finished with 34 points as these two played together extremely well. The pick and pop along with pick and roll two man game was absolutely unstoppable against drop coverage and switch coverage by the TWolves, showing that come playoff time they will be so hard to beat. This Embiid Harden duo is special and they might just be the best duo in the NBA.

Yeah that’s the thing about these actual big 3s. The last three we’ve seen (Heat, Warriors, Nets) generally don’t have good great role players around them. Maybe a few but not enough. So injuries hit Brooklyn & GSW hard

Teams not ready to play this duo in the playoffs. The PNR will go so crazy and now you gave Joel a person who can shoot and open the floor for him to dominate the paint. Can’t wait to see the playoffs

It’s a very complete team as well. We know these two are going to get theirs. My only concern is Tobias Harris adjusting to less touches & playing in a more off ball role. We’ll see in time how that goes

Great analysis. I know you were focussed on the harden/embid duo but one additional huge advantage is the other 3 players are even more wide open. You basically have to double-team both harden and embid which leaves one defender left to guard the other 3 players. So even if our main guys are not open, the others should be wide open. You showed that 3 man wall waiting for embid on one roll play, image how open the other guys were!

Thank you! And that’s definitely something we’ll see more of in upcoming games. In this one Minnesota didn’t overcommit to both Harden & Embiid for the most part so it was just them eating. But other teams will throw more bodies at those two and we will really see how beneficial it is for the rest of the team!

Tobias Harris is gone this summer to make room for Beal! They tried to do it earlier but Beal got hurt they were going to get Harden free this summer! Now Harden can take a pay cut

A back up center is not realy a concern, Embid is gonna play bout 40 minutes in the playoffs, so the back up center is just playing like 8 minutes and they could still get a decent 5 on the buyout market

It’s obvious that it’s been affecting him because he had 5ish straight bad games and then didn’t really play in the rising stars game. With a healthy edwards and equal rest these two squads would be amazing to see. Sadly they play in different conferences.
