Parts of the reaction to the coming out were distasteful - their coming out is about them as individuals, not as a couple (hence separate vids that barely touched on their relationship except as friends). It’s about their own journeys to self-acceptance and comfort with deciding to tell that to the world. They may not be together forever, but they will always be gay (or at least not straight in Dan’s case.) It wasn’t about confirming the ship or celebrating their being a couple. Notice how since Phil started posting again he barely mentions Dan.
