Not all Malaysians are unpuntual. Where I am from. Punctuality is uphold by majority of the society. Any function always start on time. This is what I dislike about Malaysian dominant culture. Never work to correct their flaws. It is idiotic to say that Malaysians are proud to be unpuntual. It is so irritating and a huge waste of time whenever I attend functions in west Malaysia. They never start on time. Some even late for 3 hours. Efficiency is none existence.

LOL, I was laughing so hard when you were talking about the laid back working style in Malaysia. I'm a Malaysian working in a Japanese company - our Japanese colleagues and/or managers who were assigned to Malaysia tend to get a bit depressed when they have to return to Japan after their overseas tenure (average about 2-4 years per assignment) ended. One of thing they miss most is the ABUNDANCE of public holidays in Malaysia.

As an american who has traveled around the world Kuala Lumpur was one of my favorite places i have ever lived. Such a modern city with all the luxuries of a modern cosmopolitan lifestyle, at a very low cost of living. Good food, fast internet, great apartments. You can go to Paris and spend twice or even 4 times as much on an old moldy apartment, with no amenities or air conditioning and the french food i had in malaysia was actually better and cheaper which is embarassing for paris. In italy the internet is consistently bad and sometimes non-existent and there is sometimes not even good heating in the showers, in greece there is problems with the plumbing. London you'll end up paying a small fortune for what is essentially a disheveled closet space. Anywhere you go there is usually a price / value tradeoff, but Kuala Lumpur is the best in this regard. Many malaysians don't think it is cheap but spend 2500RM anywhere else in the world and see how much it will get you--not a life of luxury, that is for sure!

Another thing. When Malaysians say "I'm on the way", it definitely does not mean they're already in their cars. 'On the way' refers to taking a bath, watching TV, playing with the dog, or preparing lunch. If they say "on the way", simply add around 20 more minutes to the time you have to wait.

1. as a landlord, it is true we prefer japanese tenants because we know its a safe bet. most japanese are quiet and clean and make the perfect tenant, which is why we dont mind giving discounts :) 2. in regards of relaxed working environment, at least for me as long as they finished whatever their task, they deserve to chill a little. even if they don't finish their task by 5pm, i rather they go back 30mins earlier to beat the traffic and continue from home. it beats being stuck in the traffic which is totally unproductive. mental health is important for employee performance and being stuckk in the traffic doesn't help. better to take a shower have a meal relax a little before continuing at night or the next day.

Ohh please dont. You dont hv to see in order to believe and to follow. We need to learn and understand everything first before we follow..dont blindly follow. We the Malaysians will not be able to follow THE JAPANESE. They need to learn to follow being MALAYSIAN in some part of their life. JAPANESE is too ROBOTIC. Malaysian is a Perfect-Imperfect Human.

Don't think that'd be possible. a lotta Japanese people choose to live abroad, especially in places like Malaysia, because they can't stand living in Japan, & most of their mainstream culture, in the first place. if said Japanese happens to be people who're actually fluent in English & other languages commonly used in Malaysia, they'd almost fit in right away, which means bringing very little of their original culture here.
