Indeed, and in case you're unaware, the two of them were spouses and apparently Alice was the one who got John into spiritual music and spiritualism in general.

Brandee Younger is super cool. I love her musical creativity. My daughter is learning harp, and when I first started to research different kinds of harps, I found some videos on youtube that Brandee made about getting started as a harpist. She has a great sense of humor, and, for such a talented musician, a very down-to-earth approach to music. Alice Coltrane's music is incredible and also very unique. I've been listening to many of John Coltrane's albums for the past ~25 years, but I somehow never really got exposed to Alice Coltrane's solo harp work until recently. When I first watched some videos of her leading a band while playing jazz harp, it just blew my mind. In my opinion, she is incredibly creative, and her musical style is quite unique. I've listened to a LOT of jazz in my life-- jazz from the 50s + 60s, bebop, hard bop, cool, free jazz from multiple eras, etc. AND YET, Alice Coltrane's harp-based jazz is really like nothing I had ever heard before. Obviously you can hear the influences of John Coltrane and other jazz greats in her music, but I would still say that her style is very distinct. It's very interesting and, I'd argue, underrated.

Super cool. Hope everyone here checks out Harpo Marx. Yeah, the Marx Bro that didn't talk on camera. Did a harp solo in (I think) all their films. Very whimsical, sweet, and improv-ish. Chico played wild & fun piano in all the films too. Allof it had an influence of 20's-30's jazz. Groucho played guitar.Only in one film. In a canoe with a young woman, he's comping chords like one of Django's brothers.

We choose to play jazz with a harp and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too

sounds like somebody needs to design a harp specifically for jazz. Maybe you can rid of some of the lower and higher strings and add more notes in between or you could work out entirely new pedal configuration. Idk this fees solvable
