It’s funny, I was coming into this video with a criticism in mind that I had heard from others, which was that there were questions about his lateral mobility and what happens once pass rushers disengage and he has to reset his angle, and right on the very first play you show evidence contradicting that narrative. Of course one play isn’t an indication of the total body of work, but it just goes to show how valuable these reviews are. I just hope the Jets scouts are equally thorough in their evals.
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
Appreciate you as always Mike. NARRATIVES 😂 Some of them are legitimately hilarious about these prospects. He’s big = he can’t mint laterally, found the source

If we trade down it's between Latham and Fautanu. They both can play Tackle and Guard which gives us that needed flexibility.
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
Idk how late Latham is available 🤷♂️
@latinreuben7 ай бұрын
The question is how far down. I hope lowest is 15-17 to get a 2nd Rd pick.
@TheNYBully7 ай бұрын
I agree 100% bro. The only OT I’d take over Latham is Alt
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
I’m Latham > Alt. Alt is good, but wildly overrated as some stud imo
@JakeW267 ай бұрын
I still really want Fuaga or Fautanu. But wouldn't be upset with Latham. We could probably trade back about 6-10 spots aquire a 2nd round pick or at least an extra 3rd. Latham will likely be available between picks 15-20 so win-win deal... Do you think that's a possible scenario??
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
It’s definitely POSSIBLE…. Based on how I see it. Latham will be gone before then. But I’d LOVE to trade down and still get him. I’m seemingly lower on Fuaga/Fautanu than you are

Now is it more valuable to take him or one of the tackles that can also play guard
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
Him
@hawk10937 ай бұрын
The thing I like best about Latham over Alt is his balance and build. Latham has big legs and a lower center of gravity. Alt is built like an apple on a toothpick, hes all upper body and his balance is not great.
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
Exactly, Alt is going to struggle vs NFL power at first (and maybe in general)
@joeferro58847 ай бұрын
I’m sensing that gut wrenching feeling that this guy is going to be off the board by 10 .. I really hope I’m wrong but the smartest people I follow and know ALL like him as the OT1 … let’s hope that doesn’t happen
@paulzumbo7 ай бұрын
You also think the Jets need a Tight End.
@richdubeau80097 ай бұрын
Joe - who would you say is the last tackle that was no doubt absolutely a better prospect than him? Serious question just so I can get a picture of exactly how good this tackle class is
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
Honestly hard to say Rich because I’ve been spotty dependent on the offseason but I’d say. Wirfs and Willis in 2020 Sewell, Slater and AVT from the 21 draft Nobody from 22 but I would’ve argued Iky at OG Nobody in 23 (didn’t watch Paris Johnson)
@dangilmore99957 ай бұрын
Hey I heard Mims could end up being the best tackle? What you think. Seems like a lot of elite tackles in this draft.
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
Haven’t really watched because I didn’t think he was a realistic option at 10. Low amount of starts scares me in general, if they are to draft him, I’ll definitely do a full blown review

Feels like a high ceiling but low floor. Needs lots of development

18 penalties in 2 seasons is an auto DQ for me, sorry. That usually never gets better for a prospect.
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
Depends on what the penalties are. At least a few of Lathams are from over aggression, whether that be post whistle or trying to drive a guy to the ground mid play. He isn’t getting penalties strictly because he needs to grab to survive, it’s much different imo
@Abyfresh523gmail7 ай бұрын
Aggressive penalties... ✅️ yep I'll take him-
@MTO20897 ай бұрын
@@joeblewett4771 It haunted guys like Tyler Smith & Trevor Penning in college and seems like it still is bothering both guys. Smith had to be moved inside for Dallas who are still looking for OT and Saints may give Penning 1 last shot at RT while looking for OT in this draft. Fact it happened in a 2 year span is alarming for me when it comes to Latham. Lack of time at LT also factors in for me too for pick #10.
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
@@MTO2089it’s a valid concern! Just about how much stock you personally invest into it. None of the tackles are completely clean 🤷♂️
@MTO20897 ай бұрын
@@joeblewett4771 I would be cool with a trade down to get a 2nd or future pick(s) and get Latham and have him learn under Moses & Smith and come in if need be. Just won't feel it at pick 10.

Who's the G (#71) next to Latham? He ain't too shabby.

I'm just worried about his weight he's 360 and is likely going to have some problems with his knees. It's giving me Mekhi Becton flashbacks. Edit: Google quick facts lists his weight at 359 but his PFF Profile says he's only 335. So nevermind lol I'm onboard now 😂
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
He’s 340, and Becton didn’t have knee problems until GVR rolled up on him. Plenty of OT’s weight 330/340, I’m not so concerned about the weight 🤷♂️
@JakeW267 ай бұрын
Oh shit my bad lol quick facts on Google has him as 359 but I just looked at his PFF profile and it says he's only 335. So I'm onboard ys taking him now I guess lol My apologies good sir.

It's a concern. Becton has ruined it for big guys for us. Sometimes, guys lower their weight just for combine days

Joe, did you watch all of his film? I heard people coming away with drastically different impressions based on high games they watch. Often have been hearing that Latham's highs look impressive but his lows looked bad and are too often. Did you see that too? Sounds like there's quite a bit of development needed. Concerned about the lower floor. Comparing to a Fuaga or Fautanu
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t say his floor is lower than those guys at all imo Watched his entire 2023 season, had lows, just as many and as bad as any other prospect Fuaga, Alt and Fashanu all have plenty of bad reps as well.

You need to review his tape Played poorly against good teams.

I usually just trust you implicitly, but I’ll admit, my immediate reaction to this title is that you’ve lost your damn mind. I’ll watch to see the nuance, but Alt is far and away the best tackle in this class. Maybe Latham has a high ceiling, but he’s really not in Alt’s class.
@joeblewett47717 ай бұрын
That’s fine! Watch both him and Alt and then decide Alt’s film was much more spotty then I expected, especially considering the hype he gets
