Great video. I think the Moabites (Ruth) descended from Lot and one of his daughters too.

John, His the Scriptures (His recorded Word to us) quite plainly tells us who He is and His purpose in visiting us in the flesh. The recorded human line of ancestry of Mary, as well as that of Joseph, His human stepfather, is clearly and unambiguously laid before us in the Gospels for any who are interested and with to find out. My prayer is that you recognize and receive Him as God incarnate fulfilling God's plan for salvation. Scripture also shows that the Hebrews were in essence looking for a Messiah from King Davids line who function as an earthly king. (Remember, they never totally severed their earthly ties to "other gods", and practices encountered and adopted by their own culture.) In their earliest attempts at becoming established as a "nation", they had judges for a while and told God the wanted a king. One of the first things I began to realize as a new "believer" almost 50 years ago, is that not only the Jews, but all of us desire a "king" or someone on a "white horse" or a Rambo to save us. The hard problem is the "king" living inside each of us that just won't leave us and let our Lord (and Saviour) take command and allow Him to complete His purpose for each of us.( If I remember correctly, Satan had a hand in that problem, and there ain't any earthly king gonna do that job)

With all respect, Matthew's genealogy may also have been a messianic preparation for the unsavoury accusations that would be levelled at the manner of Jesus' own conception, including attempts at impugning the character of his own mother, the Blessed Virgin. Recapitulation may have been a consideration for Matthew, to show that the messianic king would be born in a 'complicated' manner of the type, in one part or other, of these predecessors.

Plenty of mistakes- or lies, i.e. from Satan (J8:44). Gen 5:1 has not "Adam" but t" the Human"- nowhere in the Bible is used "Adam" only until after AD 164(ref.1Mch4:52) and Gen 4:25 uses "Adam" but that is Redactor Source and not (J, E, or P). Scandalous interpretation of Gen 22- the sacrifice of Isaac as plenty of other Semitic foolish verses (Is 45:7, etc), here also St.James 2:21 as if there had not been the studies of Bible's hermeneutics for at least 2 centuries (Catechism 110!). Wait for the most stupid preachings at ...Christmas

If Marxist and Freudian interpretations of Shakespeare's work is accepted in academia, the same logic should be applicable here also. Even if such interpretations of Mathew's genealogy is dismissed as outlandish, it doesn't dent the Christian faith because as Paul puts it 1 Corinthians , it is the acceptance of the resurrection of Christ that is fundamental to it.

Yes, you are right. But maybe a bit of a play on the 'imperfection' of the line of David? (using imperfect language) ;)

david, son of tamar who seduced judah, son of rahab the harlot in jericho, son of ruth, the moabite whose people fought Israel constantly. Such a confusing person for God to choose and make king of Israel. definitely not a clean background
