I'm reading the pakistan paradox.. there are countless references of. ayesha jalal's books. This speaks about her stature as an author

Being a student of history I haven't found any historian in Pakistan particularly the liberal lot that matches the stature of Ayesha Jalal. I love the way solangi got disappointed by Miss Jalal' s answer regarding Jinnah.

Madam Mr. Jinnah took the position G.G because under the India Act of 1935 G,G had a lot of powers and PM was only empowered on certain subjects. Basically, Jinnah wanted power, therefore, he took the seat of G.G himself.
@behtereen41873 ай бұрын
Absolutely. He wanted power without accountability which rested with the PM.

What Islamic invasion achieved in 800 years was flushed down the drain by Jinnah. Some defeats are more important than victories. Muslims lost a subcontinent & Hindus gained a country. Jinnah is Father of India.

Wrong analysis! Jinnah was so big a personality to Pakistani Muslims that he would have retained his authority under any circumstances. It is stupid to think that Pakistan would break if Jinnah didn’t become Prime Minister. It was his mistake, alongside many other mistakes. Such a shallow analysis by Ayesha.

Arre, no one ever suggested the Mountbatten be made Governor General of Pakistan. This is something that ONLY she cites without any evidence to offer a lame excuse to Jinnah in hindsight. The simple fact was he wanted all powers concentrated in the colonial office without having to answer to parliament. Thus paving way for the political mess that now obtains there.

Jinnah knew about his health status yet chose to be GG with the intention of 'consolidating' the nation. What about the the intrusion into Kashmir in 1947 itself? Was he for it or against it? Or did he miscalculate his strength or under estimated the Indian Army response?

But M.A Jinnah knew that he was suffering from a fatal illness and his biggest enemy was time....he did not have time to lay strong foundation for a stable political framework of Pakistan....which led to the political chaos till 1958 when the infant Pakistan was suffered with the first Martial Law.... Also it was some kind of devine help that congress leadership of that time became more interested in separating muslims due to the role that Liaqat Ali khan played as Finance Minister in coalation Govt of 1946 M.A jinnah and leadership of then were struggling for freedom for 7 years...and there was no homework done in terms of planning for the resources and manpower required...and even though we already knew that InshaAllah Pakistan would become a reality yet very little was done in terms of any post-independence sop and planning and that resulted in a disabled independent state that has not yet been recovered and was also broken half....

Jinnah Sb did what was good for Pakistan and most of the terms used for political bargain with Congress. You were slaves in India read Congress Raj 1937 to 1939. Secondly the killing of Hussain R.A is known by all of us. So Jinnah Sb told catatonically that State has nothing to do with it and you are free to go to any place of worship you want.
