The moral of his point is, if you really love the artist and their work, go to their shows, because, that's where they get the most reward from their work. They also feel the appreciation of the fans who support them.

@5ivestar65
@5ivestar65 6 ай бұрын
You can’t do that if you aren’t as big of an artist. Kanye is attempting to do or at least looking into the idea of it, and even that’s getting backlash from people saying they cba to have another app just for Kanye music, let alone JME. James Blake has also just launched an App in collaboration with a company to attempt to do this. It’s not so easy if you don’t have the leverage, and multiple of the biggest artists would have to get on board. Jay Z also tried this with tidal, which pays artists better than any other platform, Kanye even exclusively released his album there first, yet it didn’t do all too much in the grand scheme.

People who don't do it don't matter, for example I live in Ukraine 2000 miles away from him, and for us even 10 pounds is a substantial amount of money, and I expect him not to listen to shit I talk, it's just the way it is.

but i’m not gonna go to a JME show unless he’s releasing new music, think about how many fans have already seen him live so there’s no point them seeing him again. Him releasing new songs makes people wanna see him live and it grows him as an artist so more people want to go to his shows. Let’s say he drops a song and it goes number 1, his show sales would go through the roof and he’d benefit that way. I get what he’s saying to an extent but he wouldn’t be where he is now selling and shows if he didn’t release music initially

With how easy it is to download music without the artist getting anything at all, I don't think there's an easy solution. Before spotify piracy was rampant, the same could be said before Netflix came along and that's on the rise again now there's so many new streaming platforms. The solution needs to be frictionless, affordable and comprehensive. That isn't going to happen any time soon. That means the pressure needs to be applied to the labels, as Spotify isn't even profitable while paying so little.

@@ArloRenzoDarlo you’re talking about massive companies and labels, they squeeze money out of artists and have a lot of shady ways of doing things, to change them would only come from the inside or the government, quite simply.

His music is mid so it's good that he doesn't release his music. No one will listen to it

This is the dumbest take I've seen in a while. Your art is worth that people will pay for it. It sounds like the kid's angry that it's not the 90s anymore and he can't charge people £15 for an album. Of course making an app that's used by hundreds of millions of people is worth more than your music 🤦‍♂️ Honestly, it's sad for you that being a musician isn't as lucrative as it used to be, but I've got no sympathy for that argument. Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it
