I can imagine how bad the disappointment sucks. As frustrating as this sounds, sometimes there are some medical circumstances in life that some of us were either born with a medical condition or acquired one during our lifetime simply due to genetics beyond our control that may unpleasantly surprise us when we learn that the condition prevents us from pursuing certain career opportunities that we felt a compassion for and really wanted to do and meant alot to us 😓. (Sigh). I wish I could give you encouraging words to try again but I'd be giving you false hope. I am truly sorry joining the Army National Guard didn't work out in your favor. I really am. And false hope makes an already disappointedly frustrated person feel even worse than they already do now. But I will tell you this; if you still have a burning desire to serve, there is a state defense force that exists if your state has one. It's like an Army National Guard unit but strictly at the state level only and does not deploy overseas like the regular federal military can. And the state's governor is in charge of the state defense force and not the Commander-In-Chief of the United States. And if they do deploy, the deployment is strictly within the state and do not travel outside it. State Defense Force soldiers work with the Army National Guard and wear the same uniforms regular United States Army soldiers wear. Upon joining the defense force of your state, medical circumstances won't stop you from joining. All you need is a favorable moral background and be in good physical condition to join the defense force of your state. No trip to MEPS needed or government obligations that are required from people who join the regular Armed Forces. Even though you don't get paid in the state defense force, you still get the same satisfaction of serving just like a regular soldier in the Army would. If you never heard of the state defense force before, you can research further into it and see if your state has one. If yes, find out how to join. There are plenty of states that has a state defense force such as Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Oregan, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Ohio, etc just to name a few. And there are videos available on KZbin about the state defense force that will give you an idea of what it's like and what they do.

@@brittanyscott3809 very sweet and encouraging words you have provided to Corgany! You are correct that many states offer a State Guard that is fully volunteer basis only. In most of these states, pay is not provided, so this would definitely be something to go over in full when pursuing to ensure you know what is expected and what to expect within your state.
@brittanyscott38094 жыл бұрын
@@nationalguard Thank you. A long time ago, when I was surfing the web, I was surprised to learn that there was a state defense force like that for a lot of states because I was unaware that one existed. So I read about the state defense force further. Also, I hate to hear disappointing news that joining the Army National Guard didn't work out for someone because of medical or moral disqualifications. But a harsh reality I had to accept is that it's going to happen that someone will be turned down from enlistment for medical or moral reasons out of every cycle of applicants wishing to join the military. When I run across the responses of disappointed applicants in that situation, I try to avoid typing judgemental or biasedly opinionated comments, yet at the same time, being realistic with them without the need to be hard on the person and shoot them down like an ice queen. Ain't no telling how the person might take judgemental or dream crushing words. But I am pretty sure they won't appreciate anything like that. They already feel bad enough, no need for me to make them feel worse. The loss of a dream career because of medical reasons beyond the applicant's control hurts just as bad as the loss of a loved one. And there are some medical conditions and syndromes that may make the applicant feel embarrassed or self conscious about and also unpleasantly taken by surprise when they learn they got a medical disqualification because of the condition 😞. Like Torrette's Syndrome for example. Symptoms of Torrette's might be involuntary jerking muscle twitches and movement and vocal noises. To non-sufferers who don't have it, seeing someone with it going through a Torrette's Syndrome episode might think something is wrong with the person affected by it. Apparently the people who don't have Torrette's Syndrome, yet hold judgemental opinions like that about those who do, will never understand what having it and living with it is truly like. And that's unfortunate 😔. If the person has stated they have a medical condition that either couldn't be waived or was denied a waiver for, I avoid the "Contact your congressman" idea, a common myth some recruiters and other military personnel may believe and tell applicants who were turned down from enlistment. It's not good to tell people that because congressional inquiries do not work and it gives the applicant false hope. All the congressman will do is tell the person while it is courageous and noble to want to serve in the military, but he/she unfortunately cannot help the applicant, sorry 😔. I just tell the person I am sorry to hear that and wish them the best of luck in their endeavors in finding another career path they might like if the military is officially out of the cards for them. Also, as far as moral disqualifications are concerned and people with a few smears in their background, I strongly discourage getting their record "expunged" and omitting that information during the enlistment process. It will still show up during the background check and create even more problems for the applicant, and a possible moral disqualification so permanent that they may not be able to try again in the future. And I do believe that convictions of violent felonies are a no-go for the Army at least. Correct me if this is incorrect information.

Hey there Red! Your total enlistment period will be eight years, but you can serve as little as three or six years, and spend the remainder in IRR Individual Ready Reserve (IRR). IRR Soldiers don't train with a unit, but can still be called up in the event of an emergency. Your local recruiter can explain how this works, discuss your options with you, and help you make the best choice for your needs.

Is national guard the same like reserve army (Canadian)?
@nationalguard4 жыл бұрын
Hey there! We do not have information pertaining to the Canadian military, but we can provide information pertaining to the United States Army National Guard! The Army National Guard serves both federal and state governments and can be called into action by each state's government during domestic emergencies, such as storms, floods and civil disturbances. In addition, the president can activate the Army National Guard to participate in federal missions and overseas deployments. The Army Reserve is controlled solely by the federal government and supports only the Active Army and federal missions.

Can a greencard holder work in the national guard?
@nationalguard4 жыл бұрын
Great question! In order to be considered for enlistment into the Army National Guard, you would have to be at least a permanent resident of the United States, or otherwise referred to as a valid green card holder. If you have this, you would have to meet the remaining requirements for enlistment. To join the Army National Guard without prior service, you must meet these mandatory requirements: 1) Be between the ages of 17 and 35 and be at least a junior in high school, have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Once you meet those, you need to meet medical, physical and moral requirements. Do you meet these?
