It’s true that Atletico Madrid are nowhere close to being on the same level as Manchester City from a talent perspective, but for Julian Alvarez this is a good move for both parties. Personally, I don’t blame him for wanting to leave Manchester City and it’s true that he has accumulated so many trophies at such a young age and last season he had 19 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, the reality is that their team is so stacked to the point where a player of his caliber isn’t seen as a regular starter and he was on the bench a lot when it came to these important games and for someone who’s a key player for his national team and won a World Cup while being a starter throughout the tournament, he feels as if he is good enough to play a bigger role on a different team. What do we expect him to do when he’s playing alongside a world class striker who’s an elite goalscorer and he’s ahead of him in the pecking order, we don’t expect him to stay and be content with sitting on the bench or being on the pitch, but playing out of position since it’s great to be part of a title winning team since at the end of the day football is about winning trophies, the guy is 24 years old, he needs to play, he’s not getting better if he’s just a squad player. Atletico Madrid are in need of an elite striker since Alvaro Morata left, Joao Felix’s future at the club is uncertain nobody knows where he’s going to be playing his football as they need to find an appropriate buyer for him, Antoine Griezmann yes he’s their best player and has been for many seasons, but he’s getting older, I don’t know how much they can rely on him as he won’t be around for long since he’s been linked with a move to the MLS. They’re about to pay a lot of money on him, they’re getting a very good striker in Alvarez who’s still only 24 years old and he’s heading into his prime meaning that he’s going to have many good years in him and he’s going to benefit from being surrounded around a manager and teammates who are from the same country as him. It’s true that as good of a team they are, they’re not always guaranteed to win trophies every season, he’s going to benefit massively by actually starting games every week, his profile as a player suits Diego Simeone’s system and they regularly lineup with 2 strikers and it’ll be interesting to see how he plays alongside Griezmann in attack. I’m not trying to say that they’re going to win La Liga over Real Madrid and Barcelona, he should make their overall squad better, they should try to mount a title challenge not settle for 3rd place every season, there’s no award in that. Historically speaking, attackers have a great track record while playing under Simeone, they don’t play the most attractive football I’ve ever seen and he’s not really an out and out striker and is going from a team with a lot of creative players to haram ball, I don’t expect his numbers to drop. Individually, he’s going to do well at Atletico Madrid despite the fact that he won’t be winning trophies on a regular basis which is the only downside in this move, he’s going to get first team football and be in an environment full of Argentines.

Being an Atlético Madrid season ticket holder, I believe the following, Atlético Madrid recently did an expansion of capital worth 70 million Euros to be able to sign great players. In order for J. Alvarez and Gallagher to sign with Atlético, Samuel Omordion has ro sign with Chelsea for 45 million for Atleti to comply with financial fair play. I think that both Sorloth and Alvarez will be starting 11 with Griezmann playing either from behind or coming off the bench. This deal is not contingent on whether Joao Felix stays or not. Atlético will finally have guys up front with the ability to score lots of goals, similar to when Forlan and Aguero or Diego Costa and Villa played there. Gallagher will add the extra pair of lungs and legs to the midfield. Will be curious to see how Simeone will play going forward.

I think it’s a solid window for Atletico for the most part! Also, being me to a came man, that would be sick! Hahaha
@cactaceousАй бұрын
Atleti will play a 3 5 2 that acts and feels like a 3 4 1 2 with Griezmann moving up and down side to side between the midfield and the strikers. Julian and Sørloth up top. Simeone as we know changes formations constantly and one he has apparently been designing is to have Sørloth up top alone and Griezmann and Julian behind that can turn to Griezmann going to the midfield as Julian joins Sørloth. It’s going to be an interesting season.

Absolutely no idea what you’re talking about in regards to Julian Alvarez situation. Atlético was always the only option. He is leaving man city because he wants to play more and his family wants to live in Madrid. He rejected a bid from PSG because he wants to live in Madrid.

In terms of UEFA cup, Atletico has just as big of a chance for a trophy as manchester city, though the league title is more or less on the pep side. But, for a young player like Alvarez, play time is more important than trophies (pretty much), and since he has won so much already, why not help out a club like Atletico? Who is neither a super big and historical club like its city rival and barcelona, nor a small club who just sits around in the mid-table of the league every season.

When you see that Haaland has not performed in the big matches last year and he still didn't get a sniff in those matches as a striker, then you know it's not about performing or being better, but name and fame is important for Pep. That's why he needed to leave Man City and get all the minutes he wants and in the position he wants. Better city to leave in and established Champions League action.
